I don't even understand why "it's handmade" should stop the conversation. I don't know who write the lines in the LV SA script but he is clearly uninspired.
When I bought my pochette clés, the first showed to me had an uneven shape. The SA uttered the famous phrase and I responded:
"Say you cook a meal and you put too much salt, it is handmade, but uneatable so I don't have to eat it....period, may I see another pochette clés thank you very much."
(Actually, it was a bit more elaborate, but I made it short because english is not my first language)
It seems the "coaches" didn't give him the answer for that.....
I maybe dumb, but I really don't understand the logic in that phrase...
You aren't dumb and your answer was perfect. I'll keep it in my head and use it if the situation happens to me.

Look when spending this kind of money on a bag you should educate yourself whether the forum, google or you tube - so many ways to do so. I have been on the forum for some time and just back. But I have to tell some of the issues I have seen here are self inflicted. Not all but there are those that are. Okay shoot me for saying but I guess I don't understand having an issue and exchanging for the same bag depending on the problem. Do research before exchNging for the same bag. Chances of it happening again are pretty high. We have to use our instincts, good judgement and common sense - not what someone else tells us. Like I said when buying a luxury bag the excitement of it all takes over our good senses - we have all been there.
I must say I agree with the sentiment in the bold. I think quite a few of the problems people complain about are self inflicted. Others are people just being picky.

Picky ? I'm sure people take a knife and scratch the glazing just for fun.

You really made me laugh...

If you are paying for an expensive bag you don't wanna see obvious faults in that bag in the store while it's brand new! Even a cheap product i will not take it with an obvious issue!

Saying that, I'm not picky . It's my right to get the quality for my money.

I relate being picky to having varying degrees of standards. So if they say I'm being picky I just think maybe I got high standards. As opposed to no standards or not really bothered about the standards presented to me. I've passed caring about people doing rolling eyes attitude of thinking something that slightly off as being picky. If I'm paying for something I want it to be of a standard that they pride themselves as being that's why I was prepared to pay the high prices for it in the first place. Somethings I can turn a blind eye to. But obvious flaws. Nah its going to get returned.

I'm not referring to an obvious defect or malfunction with a brand new bag fresh from LV. But I have seen threads on here where people are showing such tiny "defects" that they can hardly been seen by the naked eye and in no way have an effect on the functionality or the beauty of the bag. Those things I do consider being picky.

I've also seen threads on here where people post photos of items that look like they been used a good amount, and the issues they are complaining about are a result of actual wear and tear, which is going to happen no matter how well made or expensive, if the person using the item doesn't take reasonable precautions. Sometimes the wear and tear occurs even when we do take precautions and baby our items. That's life.

I would have absolutely no problem with returning or exchanging an item that was received with an obvious flaw or defect, and I don't fault those who do. I would also never suggest that someone suck it up and keep an item that they were unhappy with. But there has to be a point where common sense enters into the equation. One particular issue that bothers me is when people purchase bags that have well known and well documented issues, yet seem shocked and angered when they purchase that item and experience the issues themselves! And then proceed to exchange the bag multiple times in hopes of getting lucky and finding that one bag that doesn't end up with the issues! Granted, some of the fault for this lies squarely on the shoulders of LV. When they have bags with well known issues, they should either make a better effort to fix those issues or simply discontinue making that particular bag. I think the whole scenario of repeatedly exchanging and/or repairing bags with issues is a little silly.

Exactly.

A good SA is just not enough when the quality is going down. Currently, my go-to SA is the store manager of my local boutique. My second go-to SA is the associate store manager. So most of the times I was well taken care of.

But, there would be time when my usual SAs are not in store. Recently, I got grossly mistreated in store due to both managers not being around and the SA who received me was unexceptionally rude, condescending, and demeaning. The cause of this unpleasant encounter was the embossing issue on pochette metis empreinte and their treatment of this bag in the store. I wouldn't go into details, let's just say that I have never been treated like this in any boutique, and I left so angry that I vowed not to go back. This would never have happened if the bags were made better, or if my usual SAs were there. But we can't control the latter (unless you have so much free time that you can work around their schedule). Of course, I was later taken care of, but that whole experience left a very bad taste in my mouth about the brand.

Also, even with good service, the bad quality still wastes a ton of my and my SA's time. Every time my SA orders something for me, now there is a much larger probability that the item will not meet my standards. Compared with before when I was almost always happy with stuff that arrives, now I have to reorder and wait, or just give up, which wastes the time and energy I put into research for the items. This whole process is very draining. I used to enjoy the whole buying experience, now I dread going because I know most of the stuff there have issues, and I have to prepare for a very detailed inspection. I mean it feels like going to a war instead of going to a shop! No I don't want to do that anymore.....

Your post is excellent !
I remember pictures X10 of a little detail that, even, I wasn't able to see.
For me, "Should I bring back my bag" threads shouldn't exist : you're not happy, bring your bag back if you haven't worn it. Why do you need people opinion ?

You are right with bags with known issues : people shouldn't buy them. But you can't avoid the fact that people will take the risk because they like the bag. As I wrote in another post, I can't understand that some very "hot" bag's problem (like the Pochette Metis) haven't been solved now.

I can totally relate to this. I would love a great SA. But most in our store work part time. Most of the items I want aren't stocked in store so have to buy online. Its a bit weird for me now, you see I'm mega excited about the purchase but then I'm also equally worried about recieving the item, wether it has defects or obvious flaws. It does effect that whole experience.

I remember recently buying the empriente marine rouge key pouch last month. I was so mega excited buying it online as it's always call for availability. Opening up I was like yeah!! So happy Its beautiful, gorgeous perfect. Then I try and unzip the back zipper and ugh the zipper only zips half way. So I get deflated, hubby is seeing the funny side and laughing his head off. :-s I have to wait upto 4/5 weeks for replacement. To be fair I now I have a bit of sense of humour about some of thr defects I have on my items. Because if I didn't I'd be peeved off and just want to cry:hrmm: but I don't want to get into that state it's draining. But then I've only had 3 items out of 8 items which most are SLG's that have malfunctioned.
But in your case with so many and you spend so much money with LV, it's understandable why you want to give up on them or take a break as you've lost confidence and trust.
