LV QUALITY CONTROL --- WHAT IS GOING ON??

Well I had an older style messenger called the Bastille prior to 2007 and it was made with thick canvas. I handled the same bag in 2008 and there was a huge difference in canvas thickness. But for as long as I've been on this forum I've heard the same complaints regarding hardware chipping away and screen printed paint chipping away. It's the same problems time after time but LV won't fix it.

I inspect anything I buy inside and out. I won't hesitate to walk away if it looks defective. I also have a feeling with certain styles and will wait for awhile to see how others experiences are with the item to see if it is in fact a defective design or not. This is not just with LV. Just as it was stated before, all items and all brands have issues in one way or another. Period. I have seen it with high end items and low end items, it doesn't matter which brand and it doesn't matter if it something we wear, carry, drive, or live in. Houses made in a hurry start to have issues quickly. Ask anyone in newer developments in certain areas where the builder has a history of piecing it together too fast and they cut corners. Same happens with every other item we purchase. Some of these flaws/defects are visible to the naked eye up front and some are hiding until there is a little bit of use, whether days, months, or years (I have known friends who all lived in same development with shoddy roofs and they got brand new ones after 10 years because they were found to have defects).

Part of the problem is the consumer. We keep buying and accepting all of these flaws, thinking we have no choice because it has become so widespread among all brands (or because we live in a throw away society where people think "oh well, I will upgrade or sell it for another anyway so will deal with it for now"). Go lurk and read in every brand's forum here. Coach, Michael Kors, Tory Burch, Chanel, etc, etc, etc- they all have people complaining to a degree. Maybe some to a lesser degree or less often. If the retailer still is going to make money and do so with the least amount of expense to them, why would they change anything? They aren't going to want to improve designs or manufacturing at a greater cost when there are still mass numbers willing to overlook it (or do not know what to look for). Remember that not every consumer is on tpf and/or looks at things with a fine tooth comb. There are known issues with PM and yet they are always sold out online and in stores. I won't ever buy one because of the known issues, but there are TONS of people still buying them. Just my two cents.

It's a damn rumor for the most part. Don't fall for it.

YES there are issues sometimes--consider the volume of products they make. People fuss and moan in ALL brands.
I agree not sure why we need another thread about quality right now. Another member said it best when she said:if you are not satisfied stop buying and step away for awhile. Believe me complaining here won't change anything with Louis Vuitton. Complaints LV may see would be on the BBB - many there already.

This is a forum. Who is determining whether the forum needs certain posts or not? Are we working for a manager who is trying to control content? I am confused about certain attitudes in this post.

To answer OP's question, I started collecting 2012, so my reference point is set to 2012-2013, during which I noticed no problems. 2014-2015 I start to notice more problems. 2016-2017 have been particularly bad to me.

I agree, Paula3boys...a lot of the quality control issues do have to do with the consumer. People will continue to buy certain bags with issues (I'm looking at you, Pochette Metis) regardless of the fact that there are well documented issues that seem overly common with the bag. I've lost track of how many different threads I've seen on here about that Pochette Metis, and it's always the same issues. It's not right, but as long as people continue to keep buying bags that are problematic, LV and every other brand is going to continue selling them. We as consumers are not giving them a good incentive to make the necessary changes if we continue to buy! Apparently there is a big demand for these faulty bags, otherwise so many people wouldn't keep buying them.

Another contributing factor to this is also social media. I think we can all agree that the Pochette Metis has been the "it bag" for LV for quite some time now. So many YouTube videos, so many Instagram posts about that bag! It seemed like there for a while, the entire Lux Handbag gang were jumping on the Pochette Metis train! I nearly climbed aboard a few times, myself...haha. I can't tell you how long that bag was on my wish list, or actually in my shopping cart online! I went into the boutiques on several occasions intending to buy one, but always walked out with a different bag. My husband even finally ordered one for me because I obsessed about it so much, but I ended up cancelling the order. Some little voice in the back of my mind kept telling me that I would have problems with that bag if I got it...and I listened to the voice. I think I saw a few too many YouTubers raving about the bag in their initial unboxings and reviews, only to later find that they'd had problems with it or sold it off to someone else. I'm happy for those who have the bag and have had no problems with it and love it. But I was too nervous about ending up being one of the unlucky ones who was disappointed in the bag.

I'd say 2016 (can't say anything about 2015 since I don't have bags made of that year). I have bags made from 2016 to present and bags made in 2014 and before, all the bags have issues were made in 2016, have one 2017 bag, the prints alignment is perfect but the canvas seems worn much faster than old ones.

Yes this is a forum and no one is trying to determine anything. I was stating I did not see why we needed another thread regarding basically the same thing. Think the mods saw it that way too because the threads were merged.

I could not find any thread in this regard ,but I have heard of the deteriorating quality of LV bags .I would like to know what issue you have/had ,which bag ,and where it's made .Maybe we can be aware of when we get that particular bag .Also how long after using the fault was noticed .

Speedy 40B... bought it in December, but the bag was made in September of 2016. Used it for about two weeks (actually under, around 10 days) when I discovered that the glazing on the handles was PEELING. Not chipping, but peeling in one single piece. Almost like a pore strip or a sheet mask, you could probably peel the red glazing off like that. Was in Japan, but texted my SA about it as soon as I noticed it happen (who was in Australia). She told me to go back to her as soon as I got back so I could get a replacement bag.

Came back and did as she said and she took one look at it and was like "yep, defective" and I was then issued a brand spanking new one! When I exchanged bags, I asked her if I could peel the glazing off, because staring at it for a month, all I wanted to do was peel the darn glazing off - and she said yes since it was going to be sent back to France to be destroyed, and it would never be resold - and I was right... peeling the glazing was like peeling off a pore strip! Came off in one piece!

Praise the LV Gods! Someone said what I was thinking.

Inspecting a bag thoroughly isn't going to identify a lot of the issues discussed here. I'll repeat I had FIVE different Neverfulls with defective glazing within months of each other that varied in age from 3 years old to 4 months. I rarely carry any of my bags more than a few times a year. There's a marked difference in quality and those documented here are a mere drop in the bucket compared to the general public.

My first purchase was 15 years ago. I never needed to return or exchange anything. But I don't closely inspect Bags and SLG.
I just enjoy them:happydance:

I am trying to adopt an attitude like yours. But old habits die hard... I blame my perceptive eyes. I can spot things very easily. Once I spot something I can't go back to not seeing them before. I often wish I don't have such a 'talent.'
