LV and the quality

I have 3 Epi Almas. I think in some ways Epi's are delicate handbags. If they bang up against a hard surface or scrape a textured surface they may get scratches rather easily, especially on the bottom portion of the bag.. When I wear mine I am VERY careful about hitting hard objects. I am constantly aware that the bag may receive scratches It looks to me that you may have bumped into things unknowingly.

I too have an Alma pm in fuchsia. As I'm not used to the hard stiff shape, it encounters more 'bonking'. I have found white marks which came off with a baby wipe. Prob from brushing against chair molding gloss trim paint in my house on the way out.

I get those marks on my black Alma too but they are easily removable with Apple Brand leather care kit.

I'm a big Epi fan and have a few Almas (actually picking up another next week when it comes into the store) and this is actually what I love about these bags - they do get scuffs or light scratches from use but they wipe off with a baby wipe and/or buff out with a leather conditioner. Unless you get a really deep nick, a good polish will make these disappear and your bag will look brand new.

So sorry to hear you're disappointed but these can easily be fixed by you at home and aren't really quality control issues. Hope the store offers a solution to your satisfaction!

Because the bottom is constructed from soft, smooth leather, it's more prone to wear and tear. When I was shopping for Chanel, I chose caviar over lambskin for that reason. The lambskin is soft, smooth and decadent, but even grazing it with your nails can leave a mark.

+1. The smooth leather trim is an epi bag's achilles heel. It's the most vulnerable part of the bag. I think this has become even more problematic as epi is now softer/less stiff than than it used to be 10+ years ago, which makes it more prone to scratches. I would just enjoy the bag and and not worry about it!

Judging by the pics, as that's all I have to go on, it does look like natural wear and tear, most likely from being bumped/rubbed up against a surface and being scratched from a piece of jewellery. While not intentional on your part it does happen and can't really be avoided unless you plan to hide the bag and never wear it.

Edited since I read the rest of this thread: OP, unfortunately this really isn't LV's fault regarding quality and I really can't see them being willing to replace/offer credit because of genuine use, but you never know. As another post has already mentioned a good cleaning and polish will help take care of those little 'battle scars' which the smooth Epi leather is prone to but if you're not satisfied with how it holds up against the everyday then maybe this isn't the bag/material or brand for you (as you stated in one of your own posts). Regardless of the design, material, or brand all bags will show wear and tear at some point.

I would return the new one I just bought and either save my money or buy something less delicate especially if it is more prone to have these marks. LV is too pricey to have that kind of let down in such a short time regardless if you bump it.

So, they did say that the anthracite nacre is more fragile than other colours because of the metallic colors, but they can"t do nothing about it. They buffed out some scratches though.

Question about LV quality:
I just made my first ever LV purchase and decided to go pre-loved through one of the top reputable luxury goods resellers who authenticate on the front end. I chose pre-loved as an intro to the LV brand to see if I like it and settled on a Pochette Accessories in the iconic monogram canvas. This particular bag was made in France in 2001.

Upon receiving it, I was shocked (dismayed really) at how light weight and chintzy the bag is, almost to the point of wondering if indeed it is fake or wondering if this is how the LV monogram canvas bags and hardware are supposed to feel? Granted there's not much to this particular style of LV bag, but for the price I expected a bit more heft. Again, this is my intro to LV. I've never even handled one prior to this. I trust the reseller and know they have dedicated LV authenticators handling LV bags all day so they would definitely know fake from real.

I'm used to hauling around hefty bullet-proof vintage Coach leather purses for many years now and guess I'm having a hard time justifying the prices of LV canvas bags for what you get. I'm wondering what other people's LV monogram canvas experiences have been? Thanks.
