Very interesting.
Thank you!I have 7, none snagged by me, tho a couple came “pre-snagged.“ The closest I can think of coming to a snaggable situation is wearing folded as a giant triangle shawl with the tail floaty down the back. Other people wear them gardening. yikes!
Buy. Wear. Enjoy!
Beautiful! Congrats on finding your grail. Thanks to the keen eye of @Julide I was able to snag another of my grails - and not just any grail, but the limited transfer of Hong Kong edition. The color and details on this are *AMAZING*! Quite honestly, this might now be my favorite scarf of my entire collection.

...just for historical accuracy (and not to offend anyone), just realized this was a 50th anniversary of Mainland China and not the transfer of Hong Kong - I was two years off. Thanks to the keen eye of @Julide I was able to snag another of my grails - and not just any grail, but the limited transfer of Hong Kong edition. I’m sorry, I don’t think I responded timely. Apologies!I see! Behind the cylinders! Jbizzy your collection has certainly changed. I’m now interested to see what next years photo will be like!
Adding: have you found particular designers you like now? Or has it stayed the same?![]()
Interesting view, I'm not yet retired so haven’t encountered that issue yetI think my love of Hermes scarves has changed with my jobs- what looked good with suits and more formal dresses.
Now that I am retired- I have a different view of my Hermes scarves- more 140cms, colors that work with more casual clothes like jeans and wearing patterns and colors that I love!
No concerns of how it would look to others in a professional setting...
That would be a great theme!Interesting view, I'm not yet retired so haven’t encountered that issue yetWhat have you done with the scarves that looked good with your formal clothes? Re-homed or are they sleeping beauties for the moment? Could be a theme for Scarf Of The Day - same scarf, two ways, one formal one casual?

What scarves are currently resting? It might be that you consider them formal because that’s the context you wore them in, others here might be able to help you reframe how you view them? It would be a shame to not wear or rehome them when you feel that emotional connection...Hi Paula24Jen! The formal scarves are “Sleeping Beauties” as I am “working” in retirement to cull my entire wardrobe but finding hard to let go my H scarves! The memories of wearing the formal scarves makes it hard to let go...
@froufrou I'm just bopping in here and didn't you have a vivid yellow Modernisme Tropical? The Queen mother was floral and lace, extremely feminine but there's no way she would have worn this scarf. This is a wonderful scarf, I hope you own it. It's so modern and refreshing. That's point,I def don't want to be seen as Queen Mother ! But I see myself and once seen can't unsee .
Now I'm in that Dali sequence in Hitchcock film Spellbound , with all the Eyes
I appreciate your sane approach to your scarves, you are more constant in your humours!
Earth colors in my mind are olive, brown, gray, and maybe purple. Just pointing that distinction out. I like these colors, too, and there isn't enough of them out there.Ah OK. That's fine. I though they may have a particular connotation I didn't know about.
I have quite a few black and gold scarves. I seem to have gravitated to them in my early years as the safe option (bright yg jewellery wearer here) and H always seem to have a black/gold option whichever design. I now need to STOP buying blue scarves, I can just about justify each but anymore no no.
I wish H made more predominantly olive, brown, grey or purple scarves. They have started to do more green and even yellow shades, something that seemed unthinkable a few years ago (I realise these are not for everybody). I also think they take to much notice of gender stereotypes regarding colour choices, many women buying men's for a more neutral or sophisticated colour palate, though these don't often come in silk. My fault for not buying more cws of le Clerk's Paddock reissue a few years ago, some really different shades I've never seen before or since.
