I don't think of Nuees Imaginaires as very Asian, tho maybe I'm just not conversant enough in the referenced images. Do you mean Galop Volante, which is very similar but iirc based on Tang Dynasty figurines?

And there's also Siam which shows up semi-regularly on reseller sites. (I also always think the dancers on La Danse du Cosmos look like they are performing Thai dance, but am probably wrong.)
Ah, yes my beloved Galop is missing from the list! How did I Miss that? Was not familiar with Nuees before, but seeing it now, it is certainly not an East Asian motif. Perhaps Persian or Indian? Wondering if anyone has the background on this one?

COUPONS INDIENS - India
APPALOOSA DES STEPPES - eurasian steppes eg Mongolia
ART DU SARASA - Japan
ART DU BOYAYJI - steppes, as I remember
CARRE KANTHA - india
Anything from the year of India
Arguably the Northern tribes designs eg from Siberia/Alaska/ eg ESPRIT AINOU ET C

Perhaps the topic was far east Asia, but there are more that pertain to more western portions of Asia, Eurasia

And in archaeological circles, the border between Asia and Europe is more fluidly defined these days,
So, just trying to be inclusive, rather than stray off topic

Did you mean L’Art du Bojagi? That one is Korean - I got it specifically because it’s the only Korean themed design (to my limited knowledge). It celebrates Bojagi, the traditional Korean wrapping cloths, which are often patchworked together.

Thank you ... yes ... I noticed that I lack a story for that one in my archives and am super disappointed in my personal archivist, but I do remember it being Asian

There were LOTS of special issues for the Japanese & Chinese boutiques - I cant begin to list them ...
Arguably the designs are not Asian themed, but the inscription mentions a J or C boutique by name
eg TROPHEES DE VENISE sic done for Macao
eg 24 FAUBOURG SECONDE by Dimitri - an op art (?) version of EX LIBRIS done for the Ginza store - several formats and colors

ps happy Bastille day !

Well today was a happy day to add to this collection. One grail I had been waiting to land (Imperiales— and in one of my favorite CWs) and a new pursuit, the Chinese Zodiac silks, enabled by @Julide’s list

On that topic, does anyone know how many years they’ve done the zodiacs? Since I have ox, if I go by the zodiac calendar that means there should be one of each animal by now but in scouring the web I have only seen the dragon, snake, tiger and rabbit. Did they stop doing them after 2013?

They stopped the Chinese calendar scarves about half way thru , after 6 years or so
Halfway thru? Wow. How odd...maybe they weren’t selling?:flowers:

They did 6 total, first in 2008. They were:
  • L'année du Rat (2008)
  • L'année du Buffle (2009)
  • L'année du Tigre (2010)
  • L'année du Lièvre (2011)
  • L'année du Dragon (2012)
  • L'année du Serpent (2013)
They were all by Stefany Devaux, and I think those were the only once she has ever done for Hermes. Wouldn't be surprised if she did all 12, but they stopped at 6 for some reason. I would have thought they would be selling well, but who knows. Maybe Hermes will finish the series in 2026...

Based on what I have that is not on the list:
  • Art du Steppes
  • Splendeur du Majarahas if we are doing India
  • India by Cathy Latham
  • Ciels Byzantins if we are being creative (part of Istanbul is in geographic Asia...)
  • Léghende Moghol (also if we are doing India)
  • Bozkachi (buzkashi is quite common in Central Asia)

Plus the Russian-themed scarves since most of Russia is in Asia geographically

Should we start a separate thread for this? I like the idea of getting these together

Re: the Macao one — the Hermes boutique there is located at The Venetian, so the scarf makes sense. If I remember correctly, The Venetian does have canals as well...
