How fascinating! I know you have experience in textiles, so I think you would know more about these fabrics. I have always felt the snagging on a CSGM too much of a worry. Perhaps I am reckless, do you find the CSGM hearty or have you found a magic way to wear them to reduce snagging?:flowers:
I own 4 CSGMs all Alice Shirley designs, while I love the format, I worry about snagging and ruining them!

Was going through the asian list compiled by Julide and others, and I realized except for coupons indiennes and Jardin de Majarah, I don’t have any asian themes in my current collection of CSGM which is bizarre. Here they are some recent ones (some of which I’ve bought, sold, and then had to repurchase) am off to google more about Alice Shirley. . . Edit: didn’t realize Appaloosa de steppes is hers :)

would beloved India and Carre Kantha count as Asian? both designs are new to me, and are on their way to me!

OK, dropping in for a comparison between what I think was my first collection photo and today’s: truly scary. After all the buying and culling and buying of the past almost two years: 50 pieces (cape in closet) plus one Birkin. Yee-gads. time to get back to the culling cycle.
Really hilarious—CSGM went from one to seven, plus two 100cm and one losange.

La Femme CSGM still here! she’s hiding behind the mousquetaires cylinder! the neutral 90cm went to new home around Christmas.

I see! Behind the cylinders! Jbizzy your collection has certainly changed. I’m now interested to see what next years photo will be like!:flowers:

Adding: have you found particular designers you like now? Or has it stayed the same?:flowers:

The pastel corner is very pretty.

Did you notice any changes in your preferences between your early selections and your later ones?

Love this before/after pictures.
I completely understand you about CSGM. One could think that one or two shawls might be sufficient :no:
I have five myself. I use 4 of them really often. I have restrained from buying another one for some times but I think I will add a new piece before Christmas.

I have 7, none snagged by me, tho a couple came “pre-snagged.“ The closest I can think of coming to a snaggable situation is wearing folded as a giant triangle shawl with the tail floaty down the back. Other people wear them gardening. yikes!
Buy. Wear. Enjoy!

Sorry for delay—I wanted to think and answer well, tho may fail.
Early, I think I was more prone to picking up a classic or grail identified as such by the longtime collectors. I’m also generally more fond of realistic or naturalistic art—the pictures that look like “real” people and things and “tell a story” rather than abstracts—HOWEVER—currently, I like the “real” full scarf art to present as only lovely color when tied rather than “real” faces, etc. I don’t want to ask onlookers to focus and try to figure out what they‘re looking at. Examples: Pegase d’Hermes or Robe du Soir — perfect horse flat, swirls of pattern and color tied.
Also more into neutrals early, now more about color.
