Actually some of my fav designs are no longer PC - I adore Hallo, finally got all 14 of

Yes they are about hunting ... to me, there is something terribly romantic and traditional about the days of Kings Francois I or Louis XIV - I am allowed to have my fantasies ... and the French kings were known for stag hunting which is so much more romantic than fox hunting LOL my fantasy - my rules ... That said, I dont hunt, it is a fantasy thing

I want to see the pink jackets, horns, boots, forest, the beaters and valets, dogs, horses, daggers not a closeup of one hunting jacket button .... ooh and I want the glass of sherry before the hunt

It's an interesting topic. All the Plumes variations originated from the 'flying feathers' like our innocent looking Plumes 1953 by Henri De Linares

Who would like to answer: What is your scarf collecting philosophy (and has it changed much since March 2020 Covid restrictions)?
I try to but only scarves that I will wear. I have made some mistakes and I know now what format are the most easy to use for me (CSGM...). Covid has got an impact on SS20 season because I couldn’t go to the shops and I avoid buying online. I only pick one scarf as a present. It also makes me buy last week my Christmas gift to myself  ... I’m afraid of another lockdown in november and the shops are far too busy for me in december.

On bird hunting ... somehow the mental image that comes up these days is from the recent TV show Succession - about the Rupert Murdoch-like super wealthy family - dysfunctional family visits Mummy in the UK, and she offers game birds at dinner with a caution to check for bird shot before biting down

Ha anything is more romantic than fox hunting! Except for perhaps noodling for catfish (look it up if you are looking to be both amused and terrified)

The no contact shopping did put a damper on my scarf buying for this season. Not being able to try on the scarf limited my purchases to safe colors that I know will work for me. If I had any doubts then the answer was no thanks.

Combine covid with two moves, in March and May (soooo many scarves to pack), I decided to limit myself two CSGM per season. I have done very well this season with only purchasing Plumes and Brandebourgs! I figure if I post here it will keep me honest and make me think twice about what designs I really want from each season!

I also only buy scarves to wear. But then sometimes it takes me a while to actually wear them! Especially now. I don't mind buying from the H website because returns are so easy. I bought and returned several scarves and SLGs since March. Glad you got your Christmas gift! Are you hiding it until the actual holiday?

Moving twice would have sent me over the edge. I admire your fortitude! It's great that you have set limits for yourself. Again, I admire your fortitude!

I love foxes (brought-up with horses and dogs) and am glad it's banned (in the UK) but the vintage '76 Les Amazones with the hilarious 'hunt' actually makes me laugh. I think it's supposed to be a hunt at least, the 'hunters' are going around in a spiral/circle.

Living in a city where there is several boutiques, I really want to see scarves before making purchase. And I don’t like to return things. I have inspected my gift once and now the box is in my closet with the ribbon on. 2 months to wait is long in particularly since it’s a CSGM and this is the perfect season to wear it. But I would like to keep it special so I will try to not open it before D-day.

Just reading the Stylebook app thread.

If you have the photos already it's easy to use style apps, but here are some tips if you want to create a more bespoke experience:

If you organise yourself you don't need an app. Just take pics and load them on a spreadsheet. A photo will nearly always alter colour depending on light so take a light reading and take the pics under the same (artificial) light or daylight (without direct sun). If you list in order of favourite, most favoured colours and end on miscellaneous you will speed-up the process.

Don't use pics only for editing a wardrobe. Try all scarves-to-go on again, and with newer RTW before you let pieces go.

You don't even need to take photos if you have all your scarves on one place/room. It's much better to open the doors of your closet space(s) and wave the scarf in front of your wardrobe. It's the only way of getting all the tones (reflective/straight/shadow) from silk. Cashmere is mostly straight colour.

If there are important events and you don't want to repeat, take a quick selfie or mirror shot before or after you go out. Print out the photo, write date/event on the reverse and hang it with the outfit. This is similar to what couture clients do. You will also see which other accessories/jewellery you wore.

I have been trying to "leave" the scarves that I purchased in multiples over the years. Except for only a few designs I am now picking only one colorway and "leaving" the rest behind. Surprisingly it feels good when I go through and make the decision on what to keep and what to 'let go."
Funny that, some people think of multiples - in the same design - as being the first they might let go

I am so totally opposite that, I find a design and seek out the multiples

One of my strategies for letting go .. organized scarves by artist ... there was a bunch of onesies, I have only one design by an artist - those were the easiest to let go - I really have little connection to the artist or to the design

Why organize by artist ?? Everything was (supposedly) by color but how do you file a multicolor scarf ? Or a blue-green one , filed under turq, green, blue , navy etc Scarves got lost because there is more than one way to file by color, but pretty much there is only one artist

I do file my mashups - multiple artists - under mashup

PS I am old school - mine are the oldy moldy goldy designs by Latham, Ledoux etc - not the new stuff by Gattoni, Bajtlik, Baribeaud.

A there is a huge diff between the old & new designers. There was continuity for the classic designers, each had a UNIQUE style and cranked out one each season. So, one could be a major Faivre or Latham fan-girl. Being a a Baribeaud fan-girl is tough - he has done two ?

I think H is going away deliberately from the cult of the designer, trying to have a larger stable of artists, spacing designs, and the artist styles are not UNIQUE IMHO. For ex, Bajtlik has a whimsical style like Fanjul, Pierre Marie, Gattoni, Kafouros. It can be hard to tell their stuff apart...
There has been what 3 years since the last design by Henry - hard to be a Henry fan girl anymore.
Shirley is an exception... she cranks them out and has a distinctive style.
Jamin has turned into the mashup queen - she emulates an existing design erg CANNES versus C et POMMEAUX, then does a third which is the mashup C et C. The current style of Jamin is very linear/harnessy - not unlike Manlik.

It is now about an Hermes-y style not the style of a given artist so my filing by artist works better with the older designs.
