OK, essay ahead because I’m excited.
The Hong Kong pop up experience - it’s nice, though I wouldn’t say that special. Like it’s not especially worth visiting even if you don’t buy kinda thing. The frame looked like it was reused from Spirited Away and they had a model of the castle, but not all the stuff Selfridges had.
At first I thought there wasn’t a lot of stock, as I was mostly seeing RTW and the various cardholders, but the more I looked the more gems I found. They had the Calcifer charm (the spiky one) and Turnip Head brooch, the shearling cow bag and Turnip Head blanket, both Sophie and Howl Amazonas. Only spotted the black one on the way out - the crystals look so great on it! It’s not my style, though, even if it’s the It Bag of the collection. The big scarf embroidered with the castle is amazing, but I’d sooner use it as a wall hanging.
The second most exciting moment was when the big castle bag walked in!! They had a couple of models doing a photoshoot around the pop up - I’m not sure *why*, you’d think they had publicity enough, but the woman had the shearling Calcifer flamenco (still didn’t love it in person) and the man had the epic castle bag. I would have loved to tinker with all the parts but I know I was lucky just to see one for real. My SA told me they only got one to sell and it was gone immediately.
I bought three things. The first was the Heen charm I just ordered on mytheresa. So that was a waste of the ridiculous shipping fee, but buying at the pop up would get me the shopping bag and stickers. I’ll decide when the second one comes whether to return it or gift it to a friend.
The second was the Markl nugget that was hiding on a shelf, which is also something I’ve already bought. I feel like it’s the equivalent of my frog flamenco from last year - not the most popular, probably weird to a lot of people, but I love it. It’s not the most carefree bag; it does stick out when you carry it crossbody, and it’s nappa leather. However, it feels sturdier and is darker than I was expecting, so I feel less nervous about it. I like both the shapes it does and it holds more than I thought - I just put a big paperback and my water bottle in it and it closes normally. What I don’t like is the skinny strap, but I didn’t love the blue Calcifer strap with it. I think I’ll keep an eye out for a complementary jacquard strap in the future; anyone know if outlets get straps?
Like I said I already ordered the nugget in the presale, so it was a bit of a gamble between buying today and getting a shopping bag or waiting for delivery and seeing if I got lucky with that packaging. In the end, the desire to walk out with a bag in my hand won.

I did try to cancel the order but they would have had to cancel the whole thing, and I ordered the Markl charm along with the nugget. I may return the charm given I decided to keep the whole bag but I want to see it first.

The most exciting moment was when we went to look at the strap and I spotted the magical sky wallet! I’d asked about the coin cardholder when I arrived and that was a firm nope, but the SAs apparently didn’t think to say they had the wallet. It was the last one! I prefer the “slim zip bifold” wallet to this “compact zip wallet” but honestly, I don’t think I’ll be using it. It’s too pretty and sparkly to be allowed to carry filthy coin and bank notes around.
So overall, one charm, one wallet, one nugget, three shopping bags (two with cardboard tags), two packs of stickers. Didn’t hear anything about notebooks. Still to come: duplicate charm and nugget (oops), Markl charm (possibly to return) and small orange Calcifer puzzle (send itttttt
Loewe you have a millionnnnn). The character I have not even a tag from is Turnip Head, but I must NOT let myself back into a Loewe store in the coming month.
