I'm so sorry you had to go through that, and you definitely did the right thing! I don't own the specific bag that you returned, but you're right in that the real one would've been way more pliable and softer. I've been tricked by fake Loewe before despite being careful, and tbh I have really strong, negative feelings about the counterfeit market. I personally don't have any more faith in resellers than I do in my own ability to decide if something is real or fake anymore, so I'd just purchase (as long as there is a generous, no-questions-asked return policy) and feel the leather to make the decision for myself--just like what you did!

It seems that all resellers right now are selling the fake version which is scary and I feel bad for anyone getting scammed right now since they might not know what the real bag actually looks and feels like. I tried reporting all of them to Ebay, but none have been taken down. I inspected the bag and took several photos of what makes it fake and the further I inspected it the more it was obvious it was a fake. I also compared to other bag I bought from Loewe from the same collection. I wrote a report to VC, but I don't know if their "authenticators" might actually read it. The scammers try hard to make the bag look like the pictures available out there. I really hope VC doesn't try to re-sell the bag.
I saw the listing!! There’s also a Boro puzzle from the spirited away collection that’s also clearly a fake with mismatched gold and silver hardware. Ugh. VC ought to be spanked for being so lax!And the bag is back on VC
Here are some closeup pictures of the fake one I got. The hardware proportions are pretty accurate, but the hardware still looks off. My favorite thing was that it was "Made in Spair". The font is different than the authentic bags. There were some other things I included in my feedback to VC. They've fully lost my trust.
It's crazy scary that it came with what looked like legitimate Loewe tags and the booklets looked identical. I guess no more pre-loved buying for me unless it's in person or they have a solid return policy. A lot of the replicas on ebay have a "No returns" with eBay Guarantee. I think a lot of them are playing the system knowing eBay inaccurately authenticates replicas.

I know what it feels like and how it folds. I think there's a reason why the pictures of it are always in the "open" bag. The fake one fooled me for a bit because I did not think they would get they would get all the details right, but like I said, the leather was super stiff since it's probably PU leather.

I finally got my hands on a calcifer strap from fashionphile, but sadly it’s going back. It was sold as new but the hardware is pretty scratched up and it’s shorter than I’d like for my puzzle. Also has a bit of a storage smell.

Yup that’s the one I returned. The scratches were pretty noticeable for being “new”, it’s either used or was otherwise the floor model? Not even sure how it could have been scratched so much with use. The last pic shows scratches on one clasp but it’s actually on both clasps.FP just posted a Calcifer blueberry strap. I just picked up the x Suma Fujita jacquard strap with lemurs from Loewe - why did they make an adjustable strap so short? It only just works for me crossbody on the longest setting - and I mean only just. It is declared correctly in the specs online, but I didn’t read the specs before I purchased so was pretty surprised at the length when I received it. The other stand-alone jacquard straps that Loewe sells are soooo much longer at their longest length. I agree with you! I put it side by side with another Loewe fabric strap I bought and it definitely has at least 8-10 in on the Howls strap.
