Hi Everyone, so i purchased this on ebay from a japanese seller on ebay claiming it to be 100% original in the description. When it arrived i was greeted by a familiar fake leather smell, although its been awhile so i didn't think much of it i thought it was just me being dramatic. After careful examination I have high suspicions that this may be a fake, however i'm not very experienced in loewe products especially these kinds of wallets, i couldn't find any authenticators that do coin wallets either so I'm stuck i hope someone can help me with this here T_T, I really hope i can get a refund on this. I'm currently trying to ask for a return hopefully all goes well but just in case i'd really like to know where i can get a statement from somewhere official saying this is fake (if it is).

Legitgrails wasn’t able to verify this item? We aren’t allowed to do authenticity checks but I can tell you at the very least that the booklet that comes with the Totoro collection is this one:

Also, Loewe leather for the card wallets are very soft and supple and should never smell like plastic or synthetics.

I should have waited as I used the Heen one today. Bonus Spirited Away CCH.

No need to wait, post whenever! Seeing these cuties always brighten up the day so the more, the better.

Wanted the charms at the time too but the beanie is all my fingers could snatch. It’s a little itchy but nothing too intolerable for going to and from work. Just happy to have him with me at work everyday during the winter~~

Am really dying for another cute collab where I can get a cute bucket hat for the summer too but Johnathan 😭😭😭

Too cute! Him being a work companion checks out - just make sure to feed him your leftovers haha. Sorry to hear about the itchiness though. It's what keeps me away from Loewe's mohair pieces.

Hi there folks, sorry for posting in this thread but since there’s no Totoro specific thread that I can find (or am willing to revive from the dead), I’m hoping some insight might be nice?

I’m a bit of a newbie at this but having trawled the forum for this very item to compare, I’m increasingly worried about this Totoro wallet I got on eBay from a local seller (UK). I have submitted everything to LegitGrails for authentication (since I know y’all can’t authenticate) but I’m hoping someone with the same wallet or something from this collection might be able to help. The seller is adamant they didn’t keep any of the original packaging or papers (red flag, but they have a few more Ghibli items plus some other luxury items on their page and had 100% positive feedback versus the 87% Japanese sellers), but they also won’t tell me where or how they came into possession, which is setting off alarm bells, especially since they won’t accept returns.

The leather ‘smells’ like leather (but tbh, I don’t know what ‘fake’ or replica leather smells like), the zip pull matches my in-store bought Suna Fujita wallet, and the production number and Made In Spain matches the font in my wallet as well, but I am not sure about the leather patina or the detailing, nor am I confident on the general texture. However, I’ve seen a lot of haul videos that have the Loewe anagram with the same depth as mine for similar products (namely the same model from Howl’s with the jewel detailing), plus the production number matches some listings I’ve seen on Mercari.

If anyone has absolutely ANY insights I’d appreciate it, especially if you own this wallet, or know someone who does, because this seems to be the one item from Totoro that I cannot seem to find anything more about despite it being one of the better SLG designs!!!

Totally understand your concerns. I'll be careful what I say here, but I am also UK based and there is a UK eBay seller with a perfect feedback score, nonetheless selling some very convincing Howls and Suna Fujita replicas (in my opinion).

For me the stampings on your wallet are too deep, particularly on the anagram. The fakes are getting really good, to the point it's becoming not worth it to chance second hand for some of these sought after Loewe items, but the better news is you've purchased through eBay, so you should have buyer protection. It's likely that Legit Grails will deem the piece fake and you can use their certificate as evidence for a return. But even if you simply have your own suspicions re: authenticity, on that basis alone you can initiate a return for SNAD stating that you feel the wallet is fake. Sorry you're having a stressful time with it, but hope that helps.

Thank you so much for your reply - I have a feeling that we’re both referencing the same seller since you’ve mentioned their Howl’s and Suna pieces (and without saying much more), so as such I’m glad a fellow UK-based fanatic has found this post.

Yes, my biggest concern was the anagram stamping based off of the items I own myself. I’ll wait for LegitGrails’ review but this will be a return. The seller has also gotten a little bit aggressive now that I’ve enquired, so I’m really hoping for the best with my money.

Thank you for your help, I knew I could trust this forum after years of lurking!!!

You're so welcome! In terms of return, assuming you bought this item recently, don't bother engaging further with the seller. If you decide to initiate a return with eBay it doesn't matter if the seller says 'no returns', just click on the order drop down menu and request return due to the item 'doesn't match description or photos' then reiterate what you've said about the item being counterfeit. If you have a Legit Grails certificate to attach that confirms it's fake then even better. The seller will have no leg to stand on. They may still refuse your request, but after a certain number of days you can escalate to eBay and the chances of them ruling in your favour and allowing you to return for a refund are pretty much 100%.

Finally, don't worry too much. These fakes are highly convincing (I did a few back and forth takes myself on a couple of these items), but it just shows the level the counterfeiting has reached. It's easy to be fooled. Do keep us updated with how you get on and good luck :)
