La Comtesse, thank you for your very kind words! right now H and lanvin are my two biggest obsessions. you can imagine my amazement and joy at seeing BOTH the H and lanvin stores right across the street from each other on rue faubourg st.-honore on my recent trip to paris :p

Oh, yes, I love that street--lol. Althought it's been quite a while since I've been back. Unfortunately, I didn't really know about Lanvin bags the last time I was there.

I've been busy reading through this entire thread. I'm sorry I didn't find it sooner (when the leopard happy was available) but maybe that was a good thing....

We really do need a Lanvin section of tpf. I hope everyone keeps this thread alive at least.:smile1:

yes, this thread tends to ebb and flow in terms of posts. in addition to lanvin handbags, i love their classic ballet flats and even clothing (but i can't justify spending so much on the RTW!). oh, and the jewelry too - i LOVE the lanvin pearl & ribbon necklaces - such a pretty, modern take on the classic pearls!

BHMommy, I have loved some of the rtw also, but like you, can't justify the price for how often I would wear it. As an aside to that, one of my favorite threads in tpf is the "hermes and cheap clothing" thread. :D

I'm not sure if it's the exact necklace you are talking about but I've seen the mesh/ribbon and pearl lanvin necklace on sale online at NM. I also remember a gorgeous lanvin ribbon necklace with rhinestones that I seriously considered buying but couldn't imagine where I'd wear it. I guess I have to read more tpf style threads for inspiration.

Goodness my posts are gone!

A few details!

kmroboto - will work on some mod pics of the Happy this weekend :smile1: but in the meantime here's a pic of a Metallic silver Amalia tote that I just got on behalf of a friend. I soooo wish it were mine though!!!

It's a little stiffer feeling than my black lambskin version and the subtle sheen is TDF - it's more of a champagne colour IRL than silver. So pretty

Silverfern--If your friend kept this gorgeous tote, do you know how the metallic held up? I love this color, but am a little afraid of the maintenance of it. I am trying to decide between this and a darker metallic.

If any of the Lanvin owners out there have a bag in the silver metallic or any similar metallic and can comment on how it wears, I would greatly appreciate it.:smile1:

Hi there,

Yes she did keep the tote and used it daily for quite some time. The metallic finish has held up really well with just a little normal wear on the corners. It's the satin trim at the top of the bag that shows the most wear - pulls and snags since the fabric is quite delicate. She's doesn't baby her bags though. Hope this helps :smile1:

Hi Silverfern,

Thanks so much for your response. It is such a gorgeous color. I admired it a lot reading through the thread. I ordered a Lanvin bag and when it arrived, I was surprised that the silver was the same color as your friends (in the picture when I ordered, it looked darker). But I was pleasantly surprised when it arrived and was the same color. I just was a little afraid of the light color and possible rubbing/wear of the metallic. I'm happy to hear she didn't have many problems maintaining the leather.

Ughh, now I want them both. :D

Bagaholic--

I don't find the Lanvin chains to be too heavy. I can't compare it to Rebecca Minkoff since I haven't handled any of those bags. Also, I don't have (nor have I tried) the Amalia crossbody. But I do have a regular lambskin Amalia (which you can wear cross body by making it a single long chain) and I don't find it to be too heavy. It's actully comfortable for me (particularly since it has the leather part at the shoulder, so it's not just chain sitting on your shoulder). I find the chains lighter than some of the Chanel chains (like on the reissue flaps).

I have an older Lanvin bag that is patent leather, and has the thicker textured chains like the ones on the Happy, and that one is a lot heavier. But I think it has to do with the bag itself (thicker leather being heavier, and it doesn't have the leather insets that rest on your shoulder, it's just all chain) since I didn't find the small Happy to be too heavy for me either.

I guess it's still best if you can try it on in person since everyone has a different threshold for what they consider to be too heavy. :smile1:
