which do you like better -- the original Amalia or the Amalia [Cabas] Tote?
I've been really wanting the tote version, but I tried one on at Nordstroms and I don't know if I liked how it hung. Granted, it might hang completely different the more you use it once the leather softens some more -- but I also like the zippered bottom on the Amalia. Which should I get first?

I'm not a huge fan of the original amalia just on me. I have the cabas tote and I really love it. I am looking to downsize for summer and am thinking of the amalia crossbody. The small cabas tote is cute but just awkward for me.

^^ I'm also thinking of an Amalia cross body :) I briefly had the Medium Amalia in Python but found the shape a little awkward in the end, too east west for me personally.

I have and really like the Cabas tote in black lambskin but would also love one in the metallic champagne. It's completely unstructured so you have to not mind it being floppy. It also can be a bit of pain getting things in and out without taking the bag off your shoulder.

I agree, that's my main issue with the Amalia Cabas (and the lack of zipped pockets) and the reason why i'm thinking the mini might be a clever option ;)

I've since sold the bag, but thought I'd post the pics for others to reference:) Older style navy blue happy with heavier different style chains

Lovely leather on this bag. :smile1:

Is it just me, or is leather quality down a bit, in general, lately (not at Lanvin, in particular - just almost everywhere)?

Thanks Chloehandbags:) The leather is a thick but soft buffalo leather, it's truly yummy.

The quality leather's still around, but manufacturers/brands have been using lower grade leather and raising the prices to increase their profit margin(and artificially increasing their 'value') while try to keep up with inflation. Top grade leather is still very much available, there's certainly no shortage of that!

Hey Lanvin Lovers! I need some advice --
I saw the most beautiful Amalia bag at Neimans last week and I want it so bad!
The color is "Nuage" and it's the prettiest shade of grey
I was thinking that I'd wait until it goes on sale (somewhere!) and try and get one then, but then I started thinking -- maybe I should let go f my Happy bag and "trade up" -- I think both bags are similar in size (the Amalia may actually be a little larger), but a little on the small side for me personally. I don't even use my Happy all that much, and altho I'd love to have both bags in my collection, maybe it would be more practical to get the Amalia instead -- what do you think? should I trade in my Mastic Happy for the Nuage Amalia or hang on to the Happy and try to score the Amalia later on?

here are some pics of each

Wow, the colour of this Amalia is so so so pretty and I'm fairly certain that the Amalia can fit significantly more than the Happy. The only issue I had with the Amalia is that it's a little too east/west on me though I love it in general.

If you're not reaching for your Happy and you don't think you'd regret letting it go (I haven't seen one of the quilted ones come up on the re-sale market for a while now) then I think you should 'trade up' and get the Amalia. If you can afford to keep both then I'd do that though! The Happy seems to me to be more of an elegant bag than the Amalia.

If you do wind up getting the Amalia please post pics. I haven't seen such a pretty colour in a while :)

thanks for the opinions! the practical side of me says to sell the Happy and get the Amalia instead. I need larger bags on a daily basis, and my Happy is my "go to" bag for special events when I don't need something big (which rarely ever happens - my last special event was Xmas Day!), and if I sold my Happy I'd be that much closer to the Amalia

BUT, the Happy was my first Lanvin bag and I do love the way it looks - the crinkled leather, the color. I also think the Happy is a little more classic and timeless, which is why I chose it in the first place!

I'm gonna take my time considering it & start saving in the meantime. I'm hoping that maybe that color will go on sale soon when stores start marking S/S down, as that would make things so much easier!!

(silver - the color is amazing! it's a pale grey with lavender undertones to it and the leather is so wonderfully soft!!)

iluvmybags if I had your gorgeous Happy there's NO WAY I'd be letting it go in exchange for the Amalia!! :nogood:

. . . but if practicality is your main concern then the Amalia might be a better choice for you.

I hope you can find the Amalia you want at a good price so you can hold on to your Happy :)
