iluvmybags - I think lindestore ships worldwide but it works out to be quite $$$

actually, some of the colors of the Amalia Tote are less than they are here --
I went thru the steps as if I were going to order, and I see they add the Duties (which are VERY high), but shipping is free and it comes out to around US $1300 -- aren't the Amalia Totes around $1400 in the US?

I am surprised that they don't subtract the VAT

I was wondering about this ... so the duties are not the same as the VAT? So if we ordered from lindestore in the US would we again get a bill from customs, or do the duties charges cover that? Would we file later for the VAT or isn't that possible?

I've ordered from departement feminin and had no extra charges, but from mytheresa.com I got a bill later from the shipping company.

The Duties isn't the same as the VAT. If the retailer adds on a Duties charge, you shouldn't have to pay anything upon delivery (or receive a bill later on). NAP-UK also adds a Duties charge when you buy from them, but they also deduct the VAT. If you live outside of Europe, you shouldn't have to pay the VAT, so I don't know if you have to file something in order to receive a refund, or if they make an adjustment when they bill you. I noticed that they don't ask for your cc # when you place an order (there was a CONFIRM button, which I didn't click on, but it never asked for cc info), so they must contact you once you place the order in order to arrange for payment, so maybe they would deduct the VAT at that time.

I've ordered from overseas a few times, and there was only one time that I recd a bill (from DHL) for Customs/Duties. I think it depends on the shipping company (I think DHL will always bill you, but UPS, USPS, FedEx, may or may not)

I don't believe Bloomingdales carries Lanvin --
Barneys has the largest selection, IMO, both online and in the store
Neimans & Nordstroms carry Lanvin online and in stores
Saks carries Lanvin in select stores

For those of you who own a few Lanvin bags (or have over the years), do you have a preference between bags that have the dual chains (i.e., the Happy bag & Amalia Tote, where you can double the chains & where them short, or pull one side thru and wear it long) and bags that just have one single chain?

I came across a bag that I am in love with but it has a longer single chain. I also notice that the chain is thinner, just like the ones on the Happy/Amalia Bag. Does the single thinner chain make the bag a little more delicate -- like you can weight it down as much or are these types of chains just as durable as the double chains or chains with wider/thicker links?

Have just checked out some of the S/S2011 bags on www.lindestore.com

Being the sucker for Lanvin metallics that I am I LOVE this Amalia cross body bag. They also have a mini Amalia tote in this finish.

Does anyone have one of the mini Amalias? Wondering what the proportions are like...

^ That's a beautiful bag! Do you happen to know what the price is by chance?
