Lambskin vs Caviar?

as much as the lambskin looks amazing and supple and gorgeous, i still got the caviar. it has an edgier look and i'm such an OC type of person so worry-free caviar is much much much better.

Caviar is a pebbly calfskin, but I prefer the good old regular calf on my Cotton Club, Cambon and Vintage Ligne!

In short, caviar is easier to take care of, in terms of durability and ease to clean. But the lambskin's texture is different, as it is smooth vs. the caviar's pebbly surface. This topic has been discussed:

i know this question has been asked to death, so please do not :boxing: for asking again... i have been searching the forum & reading old posts & checking out the many many gorgeous pictures but i still cannot decide!! lambskin or caviar for the medium classic flap? i know lambskin requires alot more care but i the look of it... at the same time, i do worry about how it will 'age', will it still retain its look after many years or get all scratched & banged up? i am also extremely clusmy so i think it will get scratched in no time....


and i intend to use this bag mostly on weekends & for dinners, etc. i am afraid caviar might look too casual for night?

I'm of the belief that medium flaps work best for going out or formal occassions, so if that's all you will be using it for, I would go for lambskin. I also believe jumbos are great for day bags but are too big for formal events, so go for caviar in those. However, if you really plan to use the bag alot, don't want to have to worry about scratching it or getting it wet, I would go for caviar. Another option is to get a vintage lambskin flap second-hand. I truly feel as though the older lambskin holds up alot better than the newer lambskin.

Either way, you will have a gorgeous bag. Have you made a hardware choice yet?

I'd go for caviar, but that's me, I can't stand high maintenance bags. I don't wanna pay thousands of dollars for a bag just to freak out if it gets worn out or scratched, etc!

echo_23, thanks, that was very good advice and i have decided on the size (medium vs jumbo) & hardware (silver) easily. its just the type of leather i am having trouble deciding on..
