Annoying when people abuse their power when they get jealous.

You did good by keeping your cool.

That probably made her even more upset because you were cool about it.

2 weeks ago while boarding on a plane one of the women (that work for the airport) at the gate (there were 3 of them) was giving me dirty mean looks because of my SO Kelly, and an Hermes shopping bag (hubby got me a twilly at the airport).
I felt uncomfortable so I shoved the H bag in the SO Kelly.

When we started boarding she stopped me and made me open my cabin luggage (for security reasons as she said although I passed the security without any problems). She didn't find anything wrong with the case, and she then told me to put my hand bag in the cabin luggage. She let everyone else pass the gate with tons of bags and luggage and I had to squash my poor So Kelly.

Anyway she probably wanted to confiscate it, or plain hated my guts. I didn't resist and I did as she told without saying anything. I always travel light and I travel a lot, so this was a first for me. I know she was out of line but I let it go... My hubby was super angry at her but I asked him to stay calm and not make a scene.

Just had time to catch up with this thread.
Sambina - it was sweet of you to give your friend a chance to make amends and good of him to own up to it.
Miss Margaux - I am sorry to hear that you have had comments about your weight. You have and will always have more class in your little finger than those boors - ignore them.
Having said that -Layney2 - brilliant comeback!! Wish I could think fast on my feet like that.
Lily25 - I agree with MrsSparkles. Some of those people get on a power trip and love showing their dominance over others. You probably did piss her off when you showed her that her attempt at bullying you was getting nowhere.

I never need to explain myself and my action to anyone... I love what I love and I do what I do...

I mean... I never have anyone making any nasty comment about my Hermès items... if they do they are truly out of line :)

If I don't comment on their tastes in things, they should keep their opinions and actions to themselves....

A lot of their comments and nastiness mainly stemmed from 1) Ignorance 2) Bitterness 3) Taste-difference 4) Value-difference... It is like interacting with people who know nothing about sciences and they voice their opinions on scientific research and expect them to appreciate the beauty of sciences...

I will just put them on "ignore" LOL

Just curious.

I have just one birkin :shrugs: [got to fix that...] I do not think I can catch up with some of you who seem to have an endless collection.

However, how many of you get the '*WOW* IT'S A BIRKIN' stare when you tote your beauty around? I can be at the mall. At the grocery store. Just walking. I have had complete strangers start conversations with me just to talk about the bag.

I'd love to hear other stories because I'm not getting these looks with any other bag...just the birkin.:happydance::cloud9::hugs:

I'd like to comment from the perspective of those who STARE!

I do not own a Birkin, or any Hermes bags for that matter. So, when I do see someone carrying Birkins in particular, I totally stare. Even though I live in LA and it is not uncommon to see Birkins and Kellys, I still like to appreciate the view and love watching the work of art in motion! Although, I never stop and chat with the owners. lol

I recently turned 30 and have found a new appreciation for Hermes. I currently a Chanel girl, but a Birkin is on my mental wish list!

Enjoy your Birkin!!

heading? Not sure about Bienchen's question/comment. Please clarify, Bienchen. Did you have a story to share too?

Just wanted to swap stories... I'm sure I cannot be the only one. So, hopefully this is all heading to more fun and comical stories way better than my own account :balloon:

I haven't get a Birkin yet. My wishes for my 30th birthday and I guess it will arrive on time. But I had also people staring or saying a "nice bag" of my Chanel, no one ever commented on a LV. anyway. It is not for those reason to have a birkin, just it is a bag to have.

My mother shared with me that when her and my father were out for dinner, she carried her Gold togo birkin and the hostess would talk to them looking at the bag...not in their eyes. Kind of funny!

The price of these beauties makes people either insanely jealous, envious or hopeful to get one for themselves. I'm sure some are indifferent. Interesting stories. Thanks for sharing.

Friends of mine who owns some birkins told me they are very conscious about their appearance, what places or restaurants to go and eat etc etc when using their birkin. They said taking such an expensive but wearing a 'no brand' or cheap brand clothes or shoes or even eating in cheap restaurants would look 'cheap' on them.
Wow, after hearing that i am conscious to use my birkin too, do you ladies there feels the same, I regretted owning a birkin now that i couldnt enjoy carrying it as often as i want...You see do I need to travel at least business if i use my birkin, do i need to go 6 star hotel..stress!

Please tell me how you do match your birkin?

yesterday my birkin had raw chicken breasts, frozen dumplings and the day's shopping stuffed in it, and a shoe (got to get the heel fixed). it's not very glamourous...

do i match my birkin? i really don't know. i just know i love using it - grocery shopping, lunch with the girls, tpf meets, work, play, i leave it on the dirtfloor in the stables too in some farflung countryside (not posh). it also goes on company sponsored biz class flites, economy when i'm paying my own hhaa, no star to all star hotels...the birkin is just so versatile. no wonder all of us love it so much.

i DO know lots of stylish ladies who do not dress designer read exp clothes shoes and they carry their bs with style and aplomb, in nice restaurants and also local cheap eateries.

To me, where I go with my birkin is not about how cheap or expensive a place is, it's more to do with whether I feel safe or not. E.g. I had to visit a friend a few weeks ago and I know the area was a bit rough ("up and coming" inner city) so I left my birkin at home.

My wardrobe is also a mixture of designer + mid range high street. I really don't think too much about having to wear designer clothes with my birkin, I just wear whatever I feel like it.
