Just discovered Frye bags

Nice bag! I have quite a few Frye bags. I love their boots, and a few years ago I started buying their bags too. Nice leather bags, but I personally wouldn't pay near retail for them, though. I'm at the point I try to not pay retail for anything much, but sometimes you can't find what you are looking for discounted, so you have to decide if you want it bad enough. At least Nordstrom will price match, so if you buy it at full price and find it elsewhere, you can ask them to give you a price adjustment. Right now TJ Maxx has some nice Frye bags, and at least 3-4 styles I've seen are on clearance for $200 or less ATM. I just got one yesterday for $180, and it was originally $448 retail. The highest price I've seen them at TJ Maxx is ~ $300, and for styles that sell cheaper than 6pm.com is offering. However, 6pm.com typically has quite a few styles at great prices too.
I've never seen Frye at TJ Maxx. I see MK, Lauren by Ralph Lauren, occasionally Dooney or Coach or more rarely Kooba.
The runway store has some high end bags for much higher prices sometimes - e.g. Chloe.

Hi sdkitty!

I bought the Frye Brooke Drawstring bag for a great price at Nordstrom a few months ago. It is sort of "hippie" looking so I usually wear it with jeans and t-shirts when I don't want to worry about my bag. The leather is very thick, and the bag seems very well made. The interior lining is thick cotton as well, and the inside pockets for cell are made of same exterior leather.

Frye has many different styles, and I often see them on sale at some of the online retailers, and at stores like Nordstrom and now at TJ Maxx as baglady39 pointed out. I hope you find one that you like and works for you!
nice Frye bag
This is one of those times where I think the bag I saw is probably brand new style and I won't see it discounted anywhere soon but maybe someday....

Frye bags have caught my attention a few times in the store. I've never bought one, though. The larger bags (which is what I usually notice) are a little heavy for my taste. When I buy a larger bag, it's because I plan to use them on days when I need to carry a lot of stuff with me, and I've reached a point where I have no patience for carrying around extra weight on my arms or shoulders.

I also see Frye bags frequently enough at Nordstrom Rack and occasionally TJ Maxx that it would have to be a pretty special bag that I just couldn't stop thinking about for me to pay full price.

Nice!! We are bag twins- got the same Nordies deal! :D

One of my local stores used to be a runway store, but not anymore. Occasionally it (and another location) will get a high end bag or two that are usually kept behind the counter at the jewelry counter or the service desk. Haven't seen too much, though. There is a nice runway store about an hour away, but I haven't been there in ages. I wish!

Actually the TJ Maxx stores I go to have increased their selection of some brands a bit over the last year or two. They never used to carry Rebecca Minkoff, Frye, Kooba, or a lot of those brands, but now I see them more and more. Mine usually has a lot of RM. So far I think I have seen about 5 different Frye styles in the last several weeks- the studded skull tote, which is the one I got on clearance since I have the boots already (although I won't wear them together since that would be a bit much), Cameron studded clutch (still $200 on clearance, but I had gotten the black one for $119 at Macys with an add'l coupon), a duffle, which I THINK was called the Jane, the vintage stud hobo, and the Jesse peeping stud leather bag. I've also seen smaller clutch or crossbodies, including the Cameron mini crossbody. This was just recently and what comes to mind, but I might be forgetting something. They've had various Brooke styles and Cameron styles in the past. All of the current ones left in the stores I go to have now been marked down from $300 or under to $200 or under, depending on the style. Oh yeah, I also saw that multi-colored woven drawstring, which I forgot the name.

I honestly have no idea how quickly some of these styles go on sale. I know that my fav Nordies has trouble keeping either the boots or bags in stock (as a general rule), but you will see them go on sale if they are left over, and if they do, the store will price adjust. I had bought a studded Jenna disc crossbody that at least one color got marked way down but one color didn't, although they had all 3 colors at one point on the anniversary sale. I had just gotten one of the colors then, though, so that's the one I got price adjusted. I think there are a lot of sites online that will have them cheaper, including Amazon, although you have to be careful that the site/seller is legit. At this point, TJ Maxx has become my best friend, and I also just bought two pairs of Veronica slouch boots at Marshalls. They also had Melissas, Janes, etc. Lower prices than Nordstrom Rack and lower than I could quickly find online at the time (I usually search sales on my phone before purchasing in store). So anyway, just keep an eye out- your stores may get stock soon!

thanks
will keep my eyes open. Most likely for me would probably be NR at some time in the future.
But sometimes bags just either sell out with no need to discount or get discontinued.
There was a Cole Haan bag I saw at Bloomies a couple of years ago. I liked it but didn't want to pay full price. I've since seen a lot of bags from that group at reduced prices but never that exact style.

I like the Jenny satchel that you posted about...saw it at Nordstrom yesterday. I recently purchased the Artisan Tote. It is the perfect large open tote, and I adore the big front pockets. It remains to be seen how the quality will be.

I love Frye boots but I'm not sure I'd go for the bags. The type of leather somehow doesn't do it for me on a bag... seems more Balenciaga style than what I picture with my boots (vintage Dooney & Bourke, or from premier perhaps a Mulberry satchel). Am I alone in this?

I thought the Jenny satchel was nice soft leather that would go with Frye boots. Not thin or glazed or veiny if that's what you're referring to.

Oh, actually the Jenny satchel is gorgeous!! (I just looked it up.) I would probably remove the braid - it feels like an unpolished detail to me - but I'd definitely snap up that bag if I weren't trying to stay banned right now ;)

Probably just my personal preference--
& I own mulberry bags, so really enjoy them--
But, a new frye bag I liked @~$200 would win against a used/ebay mulberry bag I'd find @ same price.
(Unless it was a complete fluke & the $200 mulberry was genuine & pristine.)

Frye's been around since 1863--must be doing something right.

yes, I really like this bag in both the burnt red and the brown color
but I don't think I can pay full price for it, esp. with the short handles

I really like this bag too...great colors and awesome leather. I held it in-store and liked it a lot. More polished than a lot of their other bags.
