Well my cameron plum satchel came, it is amazing, the color, is deep, the leather so nice, but it will not stay closed. The turnlock is not functional, and as soon as you fill the bag and put it on your shoulder, it plops down and open. So sad, just will not work, at all, I wish. So I got the Deborah, it's back in stock after many months, Macy's has it. It is great too, love it, the pix don't really show how cool the front is. It needs to be pretty full to stand up tho, but I will keep it for sure. Still sad about the cameron,

Oh maybe you got a defective bag. My Cameron satchel stays closed. Hmmm. But it's not a turnlock, it actually flips down.

Would love too see pics of the one you are keeping.

Yeah, mine is fine too, I think you should just exchange if you like it. The ring goes through the slot and flips down so it stays. Are you saying it pops up even if you flip it down?

I'm sorry to hear that the Cameron bag didn't work out for you. :(

Do you have pics of the Deborah tote? I ordered two from Nordstrom, one is gray and another in brown but they're still in transit to me. I would love to see your pics!

I remember Frye bags from the....ahem....cough, cough.... late 70's. They were beautiful chewy leather bags. I went to a boutique in Sarasota just recently and saw some Frye bags and was impressed with the fact that they still had the gorgeous stitching and thicker leather....unlike most of the other "designer" bags out there who have cheapened out in quality but still think they are worth the money just because of their name. Love Frye bags.

I was browsing and saw the Cameron is now in a smaller size. I saw it at Macys, but Amazon apparently has it for almost $100 less, plus no tax and free shipping! I like the larger size for notebooks and the like, but thought I'd mention it for anyone else interested.

Meant to say, I love that moss Cameron. I think that may be my next bag! Congratulations on it, and wear it in good health. You know, in reading my post above, I think I may have been a bit harsh about Dooney and Coach. I can't just say I'm done with them, because if a style comes out that really attracts me, I will be a goner, I'm sure. Sorry if I sounded odd. Was just so excited with the Frye! :smile1:
I loooove the look of Frye bags, but they don't have a crossbody that I really like right now. What do you all think of this bag? http://www.sundancecatalog.com/prod...es/crossbody+organizer+bag.do?sortby=ourPicks

The bag has a canvas strap which I don't like. Does anyone know where I could get a strap that I could use instead of the canvas one? I like the bag in the cognac color.

My main dilemma - I really want to be able to clean the bag so I worry about leather. (19mo toddler in tow) How do you all clean your bags?

Are the straps on that detachable? Can't quite tell from the pic. It's fairly simple/classy though. I would say it really depends on the leather. There's treated leather that you could probably wipe down easily and then there's lambskin that would just be ruined. To be safe I'd say pick something slightly darker?

Just be aware that if for some reason you don't like it and need to send it back, Sundance takes forever to refund. At least that was my experience with them. Their shipping charges are unreal too.

The strap is sadly not detachable. :( I think the bag is out because it feels like lambskin.

I really want a bag that has the look of these great Frye bags but in a smaller crossbody package. I especially love the Frye Deborah with the studs. Anyone have any ideas??

My very first "real" handbag was a glorious black Frye hobo that I bought in the late 70s - I save up for weeks from my first job to get it and it was wonderfully thick and squishy. I carried it daily for 10 years - I think I tossed it away when the strap broke. I don't know why I didn't have it repaired, other than I think I was bored with it by then. Sure wish I still had it. I also had the tan classic harness boots (which I reheeled multiple times over the years) and the huge lace front "granny boots" in the 70s - we all wore them with "prairie dresses" and little round wire-frame glasses. Pics about halfway down the page here:

I'm looking for pics of people wearing Frye's Cameron Satchel to help me w/ my next bag decisions... since I'm likely going to buy online.... anyone wanna post?? these bags are so adorable, they bring out my inner hippie. :)
