Just discovered Frye bags

I returned it - no return ship costs. Then went to check out the red one at Nordies. The handle issue was the same. It seems like on some of the handles the leather twists around, and on others it does not. The red one on the shelf had a ton of fingernail scratches, so that will just happen to that leather. I am ok with that, just not when I receive it brand new. They also had the dark brown, which was gorgeous, and did not have as many scratches. The dark brown leather seemed slightly different...a bit more wrinkly and seemed like it had slightly more sheen.

I am going to enjoy my tote for a while and ponder the satchel. I will be in NY next week, and plan to go to the Frye store in Soho for some boots. I will revisit the satchel there, and hopefully can see all the colors at once.
what about the handles not folding down when you're using the long strap? was that an issue for you?

So Zappos is sending me a new bag. I returned the original and sent them a feedback note. I did not request a replacement but they are sending one. If it looks good, it will be a keeper!

oh good
hope it works out
I visited the bags at Nordies (again) yesterday. one of the display ones had a few light scratches - nothing major.
As much as I love this bag, for me I'd like it better if the double handles could be carried on the shoulder.....I really prefer to carry on shoulder rather than arm.
Beautiful bag though and I like the color you ordered.

So I love the Jenny for the leather and the shape but the very small handles and the fact that they wouldn't fold down when using the shoulder strap, combined with the price, made it a nor for me (at least at FP).
Meantime, I came across this Coach bag in a similar color for a great price. Leather isn't as yummy as the Frye but I like the triple compartments and the straps work for me. And that pebbled leather is nice and soft and will hold up well.

I guess in a way I'm compromising.......maybe the red Frye will go on sale and I'll pick it up. Right now I have too many bags anyway but I wanted a lighter brown one.

Anyone have any thoughts on the Anna Saddle cross body or the Esther cross body?

I saw the Esther cross body irl yesterday and it's made of soft lambskin.

Anna seems roomier and classic.

Thoughts?

Just got this little cutie from Amazon. When I pulled my old Frye mini bag out for the summer - my iPhone 6 didn't fit! This Cameron Mini Crossbody is about an inch higher than my old one. Amazon had the color listed as "tan" but I think this is the "taupe" color. Anyway, I love it! ImageUploadedByPurseForum1431009930.173748.jpg

I just ordered the Jenny foldover from Nordstrom Rack for $199.

This is a huge splurge for me, as I've never spent more than $50 on a bag. I usually get used Fossils from ebay.

However, I'm now second-guessing my purchase after doing a little more research. Apparently most Frye purses are made in China ever since the company was sold to Chinese investors. Even the Frye products that are still made in the USA are no longer made at the original factories. It's basically a different company now, and the quality has gone downhill.

Can anyone comment on the quality and durability of their Frye bags?

Just wanted to update about the Frye Jenny foldover. I received it from Nordstrom Rack and looked inside, and the tag does indeed say "Made in China." Also, there is a slight quality issue--the tension looked like it was messed up on part of the stitching, so those stitches are longer and looser than the other ones.

So disappointed to find out that Fryes aren't made the way they used to be . . . I'm definitely returning it.

I'm sorry to hear that. I never noticed where mine were made.

My Bianca Small Satchel in Putty just arrived! I love it. The color goes with everything and the leather is so thick and soft!ImageUploadedByPurseForum1438638702.102881.jpgImageUploadedByPurseForum1438638818.607583.jpg

The first pic is mine, the second pic which has a more true color is from the website.
