Such a nice colour combo.
It is perfectly natural, and necessary. All wallets are like this if you have one at hand. The curvature of the outer layer needs to be bigger than the inner lining, so it is smooth when closed (which is the default state). For this, the outer layer is a bit longer, and also they are not glued together, so they can move freely. If they'd do that, it would make the material horribly wrinkled and unnecessarily stressed when opened/closed.
They YSL is a different kind of beast, looks similar at first, but has a different structure.
Thank you! This is what I was hoping and that makes sense :)

These are the metal loops on the handle of my Croisette bag. Is it normal for there to be a sort of hollow inside the metal, or is this a defect? I've just noticed it and the handle of my siena doesn't have it ...

Thanks

I bought my PS Mini Backpack on the website in March of 2017. I live in Montana and don’t have a boutique within 1000 miles.

The inner lining ripped by the zipper in 2019(known issue) so I took it to Vegas with me and brought it into that Crystals store. Super friendly SA helped me and sent it in for repair. Took forever but I was patient.

The zipper was so tight after that, I just didn’t enjoy it so rarely used it. Finally took it to Calgary with me last month and the zipper scuffed the canvas and tore it. I was devastated.

I used the LV app and started a repair claim and they sent me a label to send the bag in. FF to today and a nice man called and said they can repair it and make it into the “new model” with the zipper on the outside instead of the way the old one is under that stupid flap. He said they started doing this in 2020 and apologized that mine was repaired before they now do this. I authorized it (no charge) so we will see what happens. He said it’s a known defect. I’m willing to try this since I love the bag and feel the canvas is better than the ones made now. I guess if it comes back horrible I will once again send it in for replacement but I’d prefer to keep mine with the better canvas.

Have any of you heard of this?

Hey everyone! I just wanted to post this here as a heads up. My wonderful amazing CA has already taken care of it, but I got my Alma bb and didn’t notice these cracks until I got it outside. She said they probably pulled the thread too tight. I never had an issue with my handles like this before but I just wanted to let everyone know to check your handles when purchasing! Lol.

How did your CA solve it?

I hope you can help me. I finally bought my Alma BB yesterday and I see a few things about it. I'm curious about your opinion. I did compare this Alma in the store with another one, but that one already had a patina and was therefore a lot darker. I had ordered this one online and it had arrived 'specially for me', so I actually let myself be persuaded to keep this one by the one who helped me (he said that). But I really see some imperfections, on the bottom and on the side of the leather. A few wrinkles on the handles (I think I can live with that), but I am mainly annoyed by the dents on the leather and that scratch on the side. What do you think, I'd love to hear your opinion. I ask this because I did see a perfect one a few weeks ago but it wasn't mine.

The wrinkles on the handle are totally normal and minimal. There are 2 lines running around the bottom (where the 2 pieces meet inside), it is a little more visible on the left, but if you look closely, it goes all the way around. This also wouldn't bother me, especially that with time they usually get more pronounced here and there.
The little scratch is also not a scratch scratch, but a natural leather imperfection, from the cow. Personally it would't bother me because it says that it is real leather and also makes my bag unique.
The only thing that would bother me is the dent on the bottom. That is not a leather or a construction characteristic, that is just someone accidentally bumping it on the corner of a chair or something. It is OK, but I want to be the one doing that to my bags.

Those long lines along the bottom are inevitable and will be present on most Almas after some time. It really is not the end of the world. The little scratch like imperfection... I said that I could live with that, but I also believe that when most of their bags are just straight up PVC and they sprinkle in a dash of leather to spice them up, that dash should be impeccable for the exorbitant amount of money. They have enough smooth and perfect VVN, they should use that.
The bag looks unused, I'd say take it back and ask for another one. I understand the SAs trying to convince you to move on, for them it is just a sub-2000$ purchase, an everyday thing, but for regular people buying Vuitton is a celebration. Make it worth the title.

Keep us posted about the process! I'm curious to see how the outcome will be. I would say it's cheaper/easier for LV to just replace this bag for the new model but apparently a free repair is worth it to them.

Thank you so much for your answer Bull. I was a bit sad and down last week about this purchase. It's exactly as you said. For LV it's a small simple purchase, but for me it's a big one that I saved for and that I could also pay my rent with twice, that's why I'm so difficult. Maybe these kind of purchases are not for me. I've only been on this forum for a short time but I see you are an expert of LV bags.

I've noticed this ever since I purchased a couple months ago; vertical lines of creasing on both sides of bag. It annoyed me, but I didn't think too much of it until I saw someone with the same issue post theirs in the Loop Hobo threat and LV deemed it defective. Texted my CA and waiting for response

This would definitely bug me on a brand new bag

Hope they have a resolution for you! I can't imagine there is any way to repair this...so I'm assuming they'll offer you an exchange, assuming you want the same bag.

I have the same issue- I recently purchased the Neverfull in empreinte leather and the bottom was slightly sagged when I purchased it. I haven’t worn it out yet.I had tried a few in store before buying this one and most of bases looked flat and a couple sagged?!
I love the bag but same as you not sure if the base is meant to be like this!??
