Is this a defect, is this normal for this Chanel item?

Hi everyone!

I purchased my chanel messenger bag several months ago (August) at Montreal Holt Renfrew Chanel boutique, and didn't notice the flaws in my brand new bag until I arrived home. I don't live close to the store and the SA said it was final sale (since I chose as an exchange for another brand new bag which I found was too big for me) so I tried to live with it given it might not be that noticeable to others without going back to possibly request another exchange, but the more I look at it, the more it bothers me. It cost about $6k and it looked like it was used and poorly replicated. It was on the floor displayed on a shelf, and it was my first Chanel bag (i have 2 WOC that are perfect) and the SA wrapped it up immediately when I said i'll take it and so i didn't take a super close look until i arrived home. I just assumed that they would give me a brand new, high quality product without imperfections.

2 issues I noticed:
1. The chain looked dirty as soon as I opened it - now i see it's already PEELING!!
2. The lock was not in the centre.

Do you think this is normal? Is it not that noticeable? Someone asked me in another store if it was real or a fake and I am so bothered by it and have barely worn it. I plan to visit the montreal branch in a few weeks and want to know my rights or any potential solutions?

The store told me at time of purchasing that the hardware comes with warranty up to 5 years, so this might be covered under that...? but my receipt fine print says that the buyer pays for international shipping, so I'm unsure how much that would be and worried that even if they were to put the lock in the centre, it would look imperfect due to removing the old stitch and adding in the new stitching, and i'm unsure what they can do for the chains?

I am also interested in top handled bags, so would be open to any suggestions for re-selling (if I'm in Canada, where you might suggest) and/or whether you think there is a possibility the boutique may possibly even consider letting me exchange for the defective product...? (This is a seasonal bag so i doubt they'd have a replacement in store, in which case i'd love to replace with a new bag haha)

Your advice would be so appreciated

+1 with @Swanky I think the bag is normal, IMO. I don’t see anything wrong with this bag. But, i believe, based on reading a bunch of these posts, when someone exchanges, a worse flaw may be perceived in the next bag. If you truly feel this way, examine the next one carefully before purchase.

The bottom of the turn lock is placed where it is on the quilt so that it matches up to the CC on the flap. Depending on how high or low the arch is on that purse, is where the it will sit on the quilt.

Dear all, I realised the bottom of the flap looks slanted ( the front of the bag is shorter than the back). Somehow it tends to fall forward a little if i put it on a table. I looked at other flaps on YouTube n i realised the bag looks even. Is it normal? Thank you all. :) 20230211_081135.jpg20230211_080944.jpg20230211_080923.jpg

I have a Jumbo in caviar that looks exactly like this. I have another one (different hardware color) from the same year that doesn't. I think it's a normal variance from being hand made. I keep a pillow in the one that has the slant and it did seem to straighten it out a bit--but not as much as the other bag. The caviar is gorgeous though (actually looks like yours!) so I just deal with it.
