Found this article very interesting

Agreed. This is quite the statement

"
At certain times, we have placed too much focus on the customer we wanted and not enough on who our customer actually is and what we as a brand stand for," Kahn said.

I think overall, yes consumer habits have changed and may continue, it's not like this is over for anyone. None of us genuinely know what will happen over the next few months, everything has some level of uncertainty.

For myself, the stores are just kinda icky to be hauling the best of the best between all the sanitizer dripping off the carts and just about everywhere else, plus for the most part stores don't want you browsing, it's more a come in buy and leave, so what's the point? also the lean towards debit/credit aka cashless purchasing has even gotten me to use my phone something my one kid has hounded me to try out for ages.

I know i am seeing less bags and more wallets, phones.. debit/credit in hand than before ..

I don't carry much cash either, but like you, I prefer to pay in cash when I am spending under $5. Personally, I can't see myself using my phone to pay for things. I don't like the idea of having by bank/credit card info readily available on my phone. I guess that shows my age. Ha, ha!

It;s encrypted, also i need my thumbprint for it to work, it's alot more secure than i thought it was.

I do use my banking app , because its convenient for payments etc, but I have mine with digital print, I also like that if you lose your phone you call them and they immediately block your online banking until you go to the bank, i don't pay with my phone tho

I am the same, i use my banking app all the time, i rarely ever go into a bank and use my fingerprint scanner. I once forgot my debit card in the bank machine! so my phone is much less likely to be left anywhere. I also maintain small figures in my account, and prefer to transfer in as needed, when i realized i forgot my debit(on the weekend of coarse!) i zero'd the account called the bank and cancelled the card.

As for paying with my phone it sends me notifications of every transaction. XX.XX$ spent @ ____ even gives me location of the store.

Thats rude from their part, I hate to say it but speaks tons of their character
I also see in poshmark, people selling their outlet bags for the "orginal" outlet price, when we all know we never pay full price at outlets, I always want to say something but never do.

Folks do that everywhere! drives me bonkers, i paid XX.XX$... yeah, sure you did not everyone is clueless sunshine.

Wow, only debit? I always thought stores preferred the credit option anyway.... well, I guess I wouldn't be buying at those places, lol. It especially surprises me for the gas station that they would want only debit.

Are certain credit card companies charging more fees? i know some places won't accept Visa for instance. Only mastercard, debit and cash(tho now that is more a... we'd rather you did not)

Kind of on this note I find it funny that, not factoring in the change shortage, that some stores are kind of odd about cash now. Honestly there is a lot of touching everywhere going on, so I can't excuse that as a reason why they should be worried about cash. But for example, I went to a store yesterday and my item was only 10$, so she said oh, you are paying cash? I said yes. and she said we need to go to the other register as it is the only one with cash. Weird. Anyway, then I gave her a 20 and some change to get $10 back. She asked if I had something smaller as there wasn't enough for change? lol. She had to get it from the safe. I was thinking, you are a chain store, cash should be expected as not all items in here cost a ton of money. I don't like to use credit if I have cash as it keeps my bills down.

Another funny story...my guys and I go to Target and the self checkout guy was saying they don't take cash right now, which I knew because there was a sign and it had been that way for a while. He explains it is for the change shortage not because they otherwise would not take cash. My husband oddly says he is sorry 3 times, and I am thinking what is he saying sorry for? It turns out he totally missed what the guy said and thought he said they can't take items in baskets in that area, only carts, so my husband thought we were doing something wrong.

My son, husband, and I lol about it so much later because he said sorry so pathetically and in a way I have never heard him say it, and we kept joking with him--we are glad you are so empathetic about the change shortage! I said I have no idea how or why you thought the basket was the issue  We still laugh about it weeks later.

Cash is a hated method around here, the ONLY place i will use it will be in the one coffee shop and only if i need change, it's not worth the hassle, takes long enough in stores now with all the precautions in place.

She was sneaky about it. And she lied to me when she said she sold it to me by mistake. She only refunded on Paypal, didn't do the cancellation on ebay. On ebay there are 3 reasons, I think, a seller can cancel. One, the buyer requested it (which is allowed in the first hour, but might be accepted if the seller hasn't shipped), two, there is a problem with the buyer's address, three, the item is lost or damaged. With the third reason, the seller gets a defect on her account. Since she never did a cancellation, she is avoiding the defect.

Quite underhanded. Sorry, WE!

On a side note - So cash has always been dirty. As long as you’re washing your hands and not touching your face, mouth, eyes, etc. I would be more concerned about the coughing, sneezing, etc. going on. But yes if it is simply due to a shortage of change I get that.

So true! months ago the mint here said as much, but stores are not buying it and many aren't changing this despite more things opening up, larger gatherings etc. They really cram it at you for being a courtesy for using other payment methods but in the end most will take cash if it's forced.

We're running out of small bills. The only times we've bought anything in person, except for gas, are a couple of takeout desserts and some stuff from a fruit stand. The people who run the fruit stand stayed in their house and we just took what we wanted and left the cash. For the takeout desserts, we left the money on the hood of the car and they left the takeout bag there as well.

Today I was having a thought.... whats the most that you have spent in a purse? Mine would have to be $404 cad ($275 usd) for the rogue 25 dark fairy tale (i love the purple colour and the bag but if i had to do it again I wouldn't...exchange rate was and is a killer)
Mine was $405 for my Henri Bendel No. 7 quilted zip top tote. I did spend more on Coach purses a long time ago but I returned them. One of those was $600, after discounts. Now my comfort level is around $350. I bought my Coach small Emery and Michael Kors Manhattan at full price without hesitation.

For vintage Coach, the most I have ever spent is $100.

I dont own any vintage but I have found older models in the $100 - $150 cad range, i think if i was to buy now it would be $300 cad max, tax included , but no buy lol. I know everyone has a different income, but I see this $6-8 grand chanel bags and I wonder....it is worth it? Is it normal to spend this much , or is just youtube land?
