When I was looking for photos of a Chanel bag I recently bought in the boutique, I was surprised that I found fakes of my bag...and it’s for a style that was a very limited style. I haven’t even seen one resold....it’s not ‘rare’ or LE, but it wasn’t a largely produced or popular style. So I don’t really think it’s off the table to consider any rare/harder to find items as fake. It would actually make sense for them to make a fake style in a less popular style because less people can easily determine if it is fake or not.

As I maintain sympathy for the OP, I’m trying to keep an open mind with no agenda in either direction. I still would side with H because that’s where I ultimately trust my dollars in. I also still trust the authenticator because she has long lasting credibility in her field. Is it difficult for us to still accept both of our trust and dollars? I don’t think so. Just because this is a one fluke situation of our worse fears imaginable does not mean we shouldn’t carry on with our daily business. If that was the case, we would boycott a lot of things in life...planes/cars/food/destinations/medical procedures/etc.

There has to be some sort of missing piece of information we don’t have. Both the authenticator and H can still be credible if we don’t have all facts.

There is definitely a missing piece here.

I think that in the future it is best not to post "crappy, negative" theories "not grounded in any fact whatsoever " and instead wait to see what further information is sent from H to OP and/or if the original seller has any information or documentation that can help shed some light.

Obviously something has gone very wrong. Each of us has our own views as to where the problem likely arose. But none of us actually knows. Nonetheless, I think the vast majority of us wish only that OP gets a resolution satisfactory to her.

It is clear how passionate tPF members are about authenticity, honesty and maintaining the reputations of well-trusted authenticators.

Please be respectful and refrain from publicly indulging your speculations, suspicions and judgments of one another.
The OP is working on getting to the bottom of her issue, and hopefully will share the outcome.

Thank you.

I have not been on this site in a few years. Just read through the entire thread (took me a bit of time, luckily I’m home sick). OP, I am sorry this happened to you. It seems like quite a nuisance to go through. But, you seem to be able to afford multiple Kelly’s and Birkins so I don’t see this as such a big deal. I’m sure you’ll get your money back. And you buy something else. Now, if this was all the money you had and this was the only Kelly, I could see this being much more stressful. Maybe that’s why you’re so calm. It’s just a bag. Good luck finding your next one!! Focus on that.

This is why I always hesitate to buy pre-owned. Even if I get the picture authenticated, whose to say they didn’t send me different pictures? And even if the Authenticator is amazing and knows their stuff they are still human and prone to error and they are doing it based off a picture. When I was buying My chanel jumbo, I was about to buy it pre-loved from fashionphile. It was in perfect condition, and a 1000 cheaper. However I knew that even though fashionphile is legitimate and no one questions their authenticity, there was still a little what if it’s fake nagging thought in the back of my mind. I would always question the authenticity. If it was a 1000 dollar bag I might be able to live with it, but when I’m spending over 5 grand then I can’t. I decided to shell out the money and get it from the boutique for peace of mind. I hope this Kelly issue resolves in your favor!

At this point I am sending up a prayer that H does not take as long in rendering their final final final decision as is taken in producing a SO. And that the decision is in OP's favor.

Until then, and meaning absolutely no disrespect to either OP or all of the the posters who have contributed to this discussion, I am starting to miss the "beating a dead horse" emoji we used to have as an animated option
