I tried the olive oil and now...

Lulilu- Livin was not the one who INITIALLY suggested using olive oil to speed up a patina. And it shouldn't really bother you that a 14 year old has advice to share either.
I don't usually get involved with the "drama" around here, but I think your comments are unecessary. You are entitled to your opinion, but why is it necessary to bash everyone else for having theirs?

You guys might want to get LL's history straight before defending her!

100% agree with Lulilu!

 I think that lulilu comment is necessary, I was actually going to do it on one of my bag which is actually new. Livinluxur.... (I don't remember her name sorry:heart:) was claiming that she done it and she also claims herself as a "I know everything about LV" .

The fact that she young has nothing to do with it except the fact that some member are lv owner for 20 years. I actually never heard of this method, never heard of apple guard too.

I just buy handbags and that's it.

Once again her age has nothing to do with it, some other poster like bagsnbags and the sophialv1992 know so much ! I  you girls!

I'm not about drama too but I really think that livinluxu.... knowledge is discutable. She is selling a guide on ebay that might hep people but she also need to know that lv brought the devoted poupette to court because she has no right to claim she can autentificate a fake via a picture and also because she doesn't take part of LV to claim anything (I:heart:poupette! I think she has done a great job:heart:) . Now poupette can't sell her guide on ebay. Livinluxu... get paid for authentication which is the same thing that poupette was doing.

Thanks for that info VERY Interesting....I thought Livin took someone elses guide on ebay (cannine or someone like that) and copied it..I might be wrong but that is what I thought I read somewhere:oh: If I am wrong I am sorry

As I recall, she said she did it on a used bag to experiment. She wasn't encouraging anyone. She simply wrote about her experience doing that. There were others who chimed in as well and did it to NEW BAGS. Why pick on Livingluxurious? Seems like people like ganging up on her a lot. I dont know that much about LV, but I have referred several people to her guide and they've always thanked me. My 2 cents.

Hi ladies,

I notice that some people aren't big fans of livinglux . I saw people attacking her before..
Let me try (if I can )straight things here:

Livinglux didn't recommend anybody to use EVOO, she used it after she read other thread.
Please read the thread in here:
http://forum.purseblog.com/louis-vuitton/lv-tanning-20603.html?highlight=bag+tanning

http://forum.purseblog.com/louis-vuitton/how-long-to-take-to-oxidize-20545.html?highlight=olive+oil

After reading some people talking about using Olive oil for even patina, she started this thread asking what kind of Olive oil to use:
http://forum.purseblog.com/louis-vuitton/olive-oil-or-extra-virgin-olive-oil-21036.html?highlight=bag+tanning

Some of the girls including Christina ,Sophia and Selena also tried using EVOO and had great result. None of them including me told people to use EVOO, we just share personal experiences from using it.
As you can see that thread has to be closed due to heated arguments between LivingLX and people who attacked her.

Please..please..we don't need drama in here..

miroirprincess..thanks  u too

Cutiepie, I am so sorry this happened to you. I hope the leather evens out and looks OK. You received some good advice about your options (magic eraser, leather cleaners, mild solvents, or just waiting it out.) Wishing you all the best!

Personally, I think recommending the use of olive oil on a brand new expensive handbag is ridiculous, but to each their own. Vintage might be different. What's wrong with buying a new bag and letting the leather gradually patina over time? If anything, a light patina means that you can afford a new bag! Or at the very least, it indicates that you proudly take care of your bags and keep them in excellent condition. What's wrong with taking a little pride in your LVs and keeping them pristine? Don't rush what nature intended.

Yes, Danielle is right. Let your bag patina on its own, or sun it if anything. And recommending olive oil is silly but from what I read, nobody has recommended it. They simply wrote about their experiences with it. Livingluxuriously specified she would never do it on a new bag because it was nerve wracking doing it on an old bag. I guess people can interpret things differently. I personally have read her guide she sells on Ebay and was very impressed with it and was glad to see her on this board. Lets all be civil to one another. This board is fun and upbeat. Lets keep it that way.

Well it seems this place has been plagued by drama lately and it all seems to me to be quite personal. They all need to take this elsewhere.

That's what I was trying to say and I was accused of defending her! I don't know why we all can't just get along!!:D For those people who tried using olive oil on their bags, that was at their own risk. I think people are very quick to jump on a bandwagon around here. Let's just be more tolerant!

 I AGREE 100% :D
different stokes for different fokes I guess

By the way thank you Livin for sending me a message and explaining the guide thing to me ;)
Now I understand:D

okay....Im putting my 2 cents in...why in gods name would you put OLIVE OIL on anything besides salad....good lord, I looked at your initial pic and thought..dear god...WHY....I have had Lv's since I was 15...I would never even use apple guard...why buy a gorgeous bag if you want to ruin it....silly....and then BLAME somone else...Im about done with this site...people have turned MEAN and silly....it has changed so much...Im trying...to get used to it. Good luck with the handles...makes me sooooo sad that you did what you did.

Just saw this thread, just like to say what's on my mind:

1. Age has nothing to do with the depth of one's knowledge
2. When a suggestion is brought up, it is one's own risk to employ the suggestion. So please don't play the blame game.
3. Why the rush to achieve patina? Why not just let it tan naturally and gracefully?

Just my 2cts.

much thanks mirior princess, i love you too

and i agree with bagsnbags, why are you guys all banging up on livinlux, she is such a nice girl! ;) Maybe you guys have had "bad experiences" with her, but once you get to know her she is a doll!

cutiepie: did it get better today" i personally wouldnt speed up the patina on a multicolor bag because it looks to elegant with a white patina! hope everything gets better for ya today, and like i said you can pm me anytime.

...wait or you can pm someone else because you know im a mere 14 year old who knows nothing about louis vuitton :flowers:
