OK, I understand some of you don't agree with the olive oil, but I am asking for help...
i don't even know what to tell you...maybe try putting it out in the sun for a day rotating it and maybe the handles will darken and won't look as bad? or try to lightly clean with water...man i don't know.

Hi LivinLuxuriously,
I just did the olive oil bout an hour or two ago. I will wait until tomorrow afternoon to see how the handle is. I will update to let everyone know if it recovers or not!

I looked up some advice from the 2 previous oil posts - here's what I found:

this might be too extreme for some, but i use extra virgin olive oil to speed-up the patina. i just don't like the pale leather. if it gets dirty, it shows! i just massage a minute amount of oil directly onto the leather and let it sit in the mornig sun for an hour. i do this every two days until the leather is nice and golden... plus it's glossy and water-repellent too!

I used E.V olive oil but didn't come out blothcy at all. Here how I did it: I apply some olive oil on really soft clothes(clothes to clean glass). I rubbed the oily cloths to the leather evenly and gave some rubbing action. You will notice the color will get darker the longer you rub it. The last thing I did was, wiped the whole leather with another clean clothes so no blotchines.

Ok....I did it!
I have olived oiled my Speedy 30. I will say first of all I am not endorsing or encouraging..just stating my personal experiences.

Ok....so.....I have a speedy 30 that I bought from the boutique in Feb. It is pale and pasty and sad looking. I have been sunning it but not much has been happening. I have been getting some dirty little spots on it that have been driving me crazy.

So...after reading this thread...I figured....lets try it. First I tried a small spot on the back of the handle...so it wouldnt show if I totally f-ed it up. Small amount of EVOO and instantly I panicked because it looked dark. I went back an hour later and it was much lighter so I figured I would try another area. This time I used a little more and it got really dark and I figured in for a penny in for a pound...so I did the whole bag. Still using it sparingly and using a soft white cloth. I used it all over the bag and it has a three year patina on it. If it stayed exactly like this I would be soooo freaking happy but I am thinking it might lighten up a bit and I will post the results after an hour or so. Interestingly enough I took a picture this morning of it for my showcase pre EVOO and I will take an after soon. Once again I am not encouraging anyone to do this but for me it looks like I have had fab results!

I did it (oiled my bag) about 3 years ago, my first experiment was with my speedy 25..
I didn't tell anybody because I read oil is big no..no..but oh well...

My Speedy is looking very nice At first I was because it looked blotchy, but as I rubbed it more and distributed the oil evenly, it started darkening nicely. I'm going to do a second application later, I'm letting it sit right now. I did everything... the handles, leather tabs, zipper pull and the leather piping around the sides. I used a soft washcloth, and a small amount of olive oil. I'd say it's a good 3 shades darker? The tabs came out a bit darker than the handles, so I'm not going to do them on the second application, only the handles. I am loving the way it looks. I'll have to post before and afters, I'll do that after I apply the second coat

Hope this helps :)

cutiepie dont frantic! im here!

i did it to my bag, which had like NO patina on it, just purchased in febuary. i did it and it did look like dirt too, but after just like 3 hours and letting it sit next to the air vent it returned back to normal and looked onlu like 1 shade darker. the olive oil process only REALLY works if you do it consistently. i have been using my bag nonstop since using olive oil and now its more glossy and the dirrty look has dissappeared!

pm me for more help after you wait till tomorrow!

I agree with Sophia. My post is the last one that LivingLux quoted. I have done 3 applications of olive oil (very lightly) and I love the way my bag looks. At first I was  But after everything dried overnight, it looked much better, and now it looks great.

here is the after results on my batignolles and speedy so please dont fret! everything will be ok i promise :) i know how hard this can be on you:
