Been on a bag ban since 2011. Really want a Valentino bag to match my shoes but too many bags, went overboard so feeling guilty so cannot buy a bag. My husband lets me buy what. I want but I stop myself voluntarily.
Shouldn' t have bought too many. bal bags. But the forum is not good. So I dont read up on anybody's purchases anymore and just stare at mine and that. Constantly reminds me that, I shouldn't have been addicted and be influenced into buying. More and mote and more.
Feel guilty.

Try not to be so hard on yourself. We all give into temptation at one time or another. But more to the point, if any particular bag you own fails to give you pleasure, or is never worn, either gift, donate,or sell it. That may help alleviate any pang of guilt you may feel. Refine your collection to only the bags you love and use. Keep your chin up and know that you haven't done anything many of us here have experienced. :smile1:

I know. I can sell but it would have to be at a much lower price than what I paid for it so I tend to just keep everything and not sell. So now I just try to use all of them.
I'm on a self-imposed bag ban but not shoe ban.
I think that's the next road I have to go to. :p

I really appreciate your words Fimpagebag.
You write with such integrity. Thank you.

I am so ready to be on a bag ban. I had never really bought bags for myself (certainly nothing that I paid more than $30 or $40 for at Marshalls) and then at the age of 28 I decided I was interested in putting together a nice collection of bags that I could have for a long time. So, I started doing that and got swept up and have bought way too much but I finally feel like I can be at peace with what I've collected at least for a while so I'm glad this thread exists... I think this will help me stay strong. Willpower ladies... We can do it!

I can relate to this completely, except the 28 part. I'm definitely um, middle aged :)

I was supposed to be on a ban this year since I went on a bag shopping spree last year - 2 Bals, 1 Fendi, 1 Alexander Wang and a ton of Rebecca Minkoffs!! One background info worth mentioning - I discovered and joined tpf last year. Hmmm, so the 2 events are correlated... :smile1:

I've so far failed my ban and I have had additional purchases this year. But I feel it in my bones now that I'm gonna be stopping soon... For the sake of my wallet I really do hope so. :graucho: And I also justify by telling myself that I've already sold a few pieces and the "disposal" compensates for the addition.

Me too! I've learned so much from TPF...and spent so much as a result :) And 90% is pre-loved so I'm doing on the cheap, so to speak.

I need to go on a ban too. I joined TPF and never owned any type of "luxury" item and soon after I bought two pairs of Louboutins that never get worn. I recently became active again and now I'm itching to buy more! TPF definitely does something to make you want to shop more because I find myself saving and lusting over things I've never seen anyone I know wear or even seen in person lol. I own way too many clothes with the tags still on them so I'm going a strict clothing shopping ban and heel shopping ban. I'm trying to limit myself to only buy flats and handbags because I get the most use out of those and I don't own any quality flats or handbags.

lol... I too was "swept up" by tpf, when I first discovered it... :p

and... hurrah to staying strong!!

I agree... tpf can be quite eyeopening... and wallet loosening. But... eventually... many of us find our way onto ban island... if only to recapture our senses from the acquisition madness that is tpf. ;)

Good luck on your ban! :smile1:

I'm going to put myself on a bag ban as well. I've been wanting one bag that has been out of stock since I found it and in the interim I've been trying to fill the bag hole in my heart and it hasn't been working. Going to ban until this bag becomes available and then afterwards until I can afford a 3.1 Lim bag (Probably years haha)

Its so easy to have purchases pile up when you are trying to compensate for what you really want. I've definitely done that same thing. I think you've made a good resolution though and it will pay off when you get the bag you really want.
If you're comfortable sharing, what's the bag you are wanting?
:D

It isn't a fancy bag but it's a shape I love and in my college budget price range, the Dooney & Bourke Ivory All weather leather satchel Here is a link. It just seems like the perfect casual bag for me.

Great choice! I have two Dooney bags and they are champs - really durable and well made.
Make sure to check the Dooney forum - a lot of times you can get these bags at much cheaper than retail by calling up the outlets!

Okay ladies I am here to join you. I feel like Fred Sanford saying "I'm coming to join you honey!" Lol

No really I need to put myself on ban island for the sake of my wallet! I bought my first LV in December of 2012 and to date I have thirteen bags (sold three) and 3 accessories. I bought three bags in April and two bags plus accessory in May. These luxury goods can be quite addictive to say the least. I can literally wear a bag a week for ten weeks. Craziness I tell ya. Then I join this forum with people who are exactly like myself and LOVE handbags. So it is quite the enabling site for sure. Lusting over reveals and such does not help! I love the site and will continue to browse - but yesterday I received my last bag for awhile! I am really going to try hard because handbags are my weakness and it is darn difficult to stay strong. I have to be here at least until my anniversary which will be in Feb. 2015 - oh this is going to be quite difficult and I am sure I will fall off the island but I am going to give it a shot. If I feel the need to buy I will post here and hope someone will talk me out of it. I need a new therapy beside bag therapy!

So again I say: "I'm Coming To Join You Honey!"

Be Blessed MoNikki

:bump: :bump:

It's been a while since anyone has posted... and somehow, it's already August!

So...

How's everyone doing?

As for me... I'm so happy to report that I'm still on bag ban island. Woohoo!

Although... a few lovely non-bag finds, still managed to sneak their way into my island cabana.

Fingers crossed for the rest of the year! :smile1:

I am on a self-imposed ban too! I lurk here but I now read other threads other than reveals or bags in action. That's also why I came upon this thread! 😊

I need THE BAN so I can sort out which bags/SLGs I really love and USE. I have other bags and wallets that are non-LV but are designers as well and are equally of good quality. It's not easy to be on a ban but I know it will do me good (and our savings account's too). I want to be content for what I have now. I still do have my wishlist but I promise myself never to buy a new bag again unless I've saved up for it first or I've sold some bags that hasn't seen action in months or even years!

I plan to ban myself for 2 years (I just started this July 2014) and I also look forward to buying my HG LV bag in France as hubby (who is a seafarer) plans to have me join him again on his Europe route for our 10th year anniversary 3 years from now. So I think I'll be able to save enough to buy myself some more LV items off my wishlist (my only weakness is bags, never jewelries, clothes nor shoes, so a 2-year ban can save me a lot!). Of course, hubby will take care of the HG bag. Afterall, it's for our 10th anniversary! 😊💖

So for now, I'll patiently wait as time passes by. I'll enjoy my bags and SLGs, won't baby them too much so I can truly justify the price I paid them for. I'll list more eBay items so I can save more and be able to clean up my closet. And I'll look for another hobby so I can stay away longer from tPF ;) It sure is fun to be here (no doubt about that!) but at the end of the day, being with your loved ones/friends and spending quality time with them in the flesh is way much better than just being in front of a laptop or a mobile phone thinking about another bag purchase.

This is just me. I mean no offense to anyone. God bless us all! 😊
