Good for you! A 2 year ban is an ambitious goal! And who knows... by then... maybe a bag won't be on your wish list for your 10 year anniversary. :p

Good luck!!

I am on a self-imposed ban too! I lurk here but I now read other threads other than reveals or bags in action. That's also why I came upon this thread!

...

I plan to ban myself for 2 years (I just started this July 2014) and I also look forward to buying my HG LV bag in France as hubby (who is a seafarer) plans to have me join him again on his Europe route for our 10th year anniversary 3 years from now. So I think I'll be able to save enough to buy myself some more LV items off my wishlist (my only weakness is bags, never jewelries, clothes nor shoes, so a 2-year ban can save me a lot!). Of course, hubby will take care of the HG bag. Afterall, it's for our 10th anniversary!

...

I need to join this ban! I recently sold off my collection, except for a couple things and then used the money to buy 2 bags. I want these two bags to last me for at least two years! I'm over seeing all my money go to purses and then not liking them.

Having bought about 9 new bags and 1 new wallet this year, I too am banning myself from purchasing more bags, till next May/June, hopefully! I would like to enjoy my new purchases and use them regularly in order to appreciate them fully! And in the meantime to slowly put back some money in the savings.

I know it is! And it really is a challenge. But I want this for a change. I'm tired of buying then selling then buying again. I also have this habit of telling myself that I can always sell a bag to return the money I used to pay for a new bag. But that was crap! I always end up keeping all the bags and never sold them. So I HAD a lot and it gave me a headache whenever I chose which bag to use for the day, but NOW I'm happy with my progress. Down to just a few and will still be purging for more. I just need to talk myself out of keeping others just because of their sentimental value.

Sometimes I forget that I gave myself a 2-year ban haha! I was thinking after the first quarter of 2015 I can buy again. Thankfully I checked this thread and now I'm in my right mindset again. That was close! :banned:

And yeah, maybe I won't even want a bag for our 10th anniversary IF I get used to this ban ;)

After my last purchase for my wedding anniversary... I am on an permanent ban. I will still accept gifts lol. I am moving os soon so got to stop. Saving money rocks too:)

Haha...Gifts are nice. I wish I could set up a Christmas purse fund so my family can chip in to buy me a nice purse as a Christmas present. Since we got married my DH and I have received too many gifts that we don't like or don't use. I just need one nice big gift: a purse that I like!

Congrats on your new purchases... and good luck on your ban!! :smile1:

Phew! Hang in there... and good luck on your resolve! :ghi5:

My mom just bet with me for two hundred dollars that I cannot endure till next year Dec. Anyone else also gotten into this kind of situation? Letting others around us holding us accountable and helping us with the ban?

I am going through the process of buying a new house. If the deal goes through, I will be needing to spend my money on house renovations, not purses (and clothes and shoes).

I am saving like mad and not spending money on anything if I can help it. Making myself do this for 3 months has really help 'reset' my spending behaviour and habits. I now think 'I don't need that' rather than 'I must have that'.

Having the goal of a new home to focus on has helped me reassess my priorities. As a result I am selling two purses, and feel no desire to buy more. I have a great collection of 7, and that is all I need for now.

I hope to stay within this mindset for the forceable future. I will say me a lot of money.

Congrats on your 3 month ban!! :ghi5:

I hope everything with your new house goes smoothly. GL with your renovations, too. :smile1:

I haven't purchased a bag in 6 months, and the ban has reset my mindset on bags, too. Now I ask myself a series of questions, when I'm faced with a bag that I want (I posted them here, post #1616). So far, so good... since the answers are always "no". Phew. :p

Thank you :smile1: I like your questions, and will use these myself as a reminder.
