Definitely follow up with the managers at the stores to see if they received your resume.

If not, I'd ask them for a fax number and try that way.

Also be prepared to lower your expectations -- it is not ridiculous for a high end store to require a college degree, and I think it's also unrealistic for you to expect a managerial job at this point. You need more experience.

I would also suggest that you follow up on a regular basis. Don't give up after you call them once. Keep calling them to let them know you're really interested. People who have the drive to continue following up are the ones who stand out to the managers and people hiring.

And in the meantime, while you're waiting, I'd definitely agree with other posts that suggest that you get a job in a higher end store.

Good luck!

I really dont understand why the LV SA are so rude sometimes!! It shouldnt matter how much they make or dont, they could be a little nicer~ but GL with ur job hunting!

That's the only drawback with applying to high end stores....High quality goods, low quality service. It's like you go there for the abuse. Here in Norway I'm going to have to wait to apply for LV. I already know 3 languages and worked in high end-ish stores but I'm simply too young looking. The air of sophistication, or whatever, isn't there. I still don't completely understand the commision though...There is none? How could there be none? I guess working at LV is simply a stepping stone to working at Hermes. lol. And the turnover is so high. I think the main reason for that is perhaps intersocial problems between SA's. They must be just unbearable to eachother aswell.

For those of you who are confused.. I'm not applying for a manager position,..
simply a sales rep position or even the cashier/wrapping person.
And I will definitely give them a call back this Friday.. give them a week or so to review it.. and i did dress the position..i came into the store with a whole suit and tie.
I do however, have an interview with BCBG this Wednesday.
- does anyone know if they are commission based>>

I actually asked for an application at the Louis Vuitton located in the Beverly Center (CA).
- I approached, someone who seemed to be in their 40's/Sales Rep
- Long story short I asked if they were hiring, and if she had an application.. she smirked and said just turn in your resume. So, none of my questions were really answered. So once again, I asked the same questions. and she stated again, just to turn in my resume.
I thanked her , smiled and left.

-(i was dressed cute/in my opinion)- Cream color shorts.. Blue Burberry polo, and sporting' the damier azur naviglio..so i dont think my appearance was a factor in this.

I, like many others here dream of working for LV..
I currently work for Victoria Secret and have only 1 year SalesRep/cashiering there.
-but I have worked as a tutor, several times

I understand, that you need 2 years of :high End Retail: to work there.. but half the SA's I see in there do not look like they've worked in anything higher than Sears/JC penny
(no offense to any of those working or know of people working there)

Plus, they dont know half the names of any of the bags, and I do..

And like everybody else, I think I'm pretty too.. :/

So how would /i go about getting a job like this, any ideas??

Amen!! I've tried for years in Austin and San Antonio and have never gotten a call. They always say they're not hiring, but they're always taking applications.

And you're right a lot of them are clueless. In Austin, I had an argument with one SA who swear I was on crack when I asked when the new Vernis colors came out and he kept saying no new colors were coming out any time soon, yet a month later... viola.. new colors! and some in San Antonio when I asked when the new mini lin color was coming out and they said like in a month or 2 yet I called my SA at Neimans and he was like I just got it in, come take a look!! GRRRR! Both times I was about to blow my top and tell the manager, you hired these clueless people but you won't even interview me!!!! Sorry had to vent! But yes I feel ya...
