Being able to speak different languages is huge because of tourists' purchases.

I agree that you should also apply at other luxury stores so you can work your way up. It's easier to land your dream job when you are already employed.

My friends work at LV, and I always tell them that if they need anyone, I would totally work there. They told me that they don't ever "hire" anyone. Which means they don't just take applications and call you for an interview. They're really selective. It's also not as glamorous as you think it is. It's a lot of standing around and waiting.

Yes - agreed !

Apply to the one inside Watertower Mall! They are super nice there.

Oh how I miss Chicago....

I don't think the Water Tower has one anymore...A few years back (5) even Bloomingdales on Michigan Ave. had an LV, but when the big store opened up on Michigan Ave. (next to Chanel), they closed the WaterTower location and Bloomies...

There is Nordies (which is really nice) and only about a year old, the little Saks LV location, and the large North Michigan Ave. location.

Doesn't hurt to try. Good Luck!

Hi dianaa! I have a friend who works at LV. I can tell from conversations that I've had with him, as well as my own observations that speaking more than just English helps. Whether or not the locations you're interested in get a high volume of Arabic speaking people, I doubt there are many Arabic speaking SAs so they would appreciate you. And of course, any understanding of French is an asset to LV.

A history of working with luxury brands is not necessary. However, I think you'd have better luck at an in-store boutique like in Neimans or Saks as opposed to a freestanding global flagship. From my experience, that's where they place the younger, non-luxury experienced yet nicest, most personable SAs.

My friend told me that once a coworker was scheduled for lunch and turned down helping a customer (because of his scheduled break) and he was promptly fired. So I think a lot of it has to do with your personality and work ethic. Timing obviously plays a role too. Their need for SAs probably increases around Christmas. Combined with a little bit of luck and you should be ok.

Also, you mentioned having managerial experience. Why not apply for a managers position? It couldn't hurt to try!

I believe there is a tPFer in Europe who got an intern position at a LV store for the summer. Maybe you can find that thread and PM her for tips.

Best of luck and keep us posted!

By the way, how'd you get to speak Arabic? I'm half Egyptian :)

Thank you so much for all the advice. I didn't apply for managerial positions because my experience wasn't in sales, so I didn't think it would help me much.

I'm actually full Egyptian and the only reason I speak Arabic is because my grand-parents decided to teach my brother and I when we were young. I'm thankful for it now, that's for sure!

Oo, what a coincidence! Well I'm glad they taught you, I know its an asset!

I would apply for the managerial position as well. I don't think the focus of the LVs managers job is to sell.

Again, best of luck to you. Haz saed :)

I know a few people there, and I hear lots of funny stories, mostly about people with the "princess" mentality (men and women ;) ) with high demands, and a love for arguing. I'm sure there are lots of good parts, but crazy, rude customer stories are my fave to hear about. (Though I have experienced rude SAs too) money defs does not buy class....I used to work for another handbag company, not as high end, it was pretty fun, but it seems that the higher the price, the higher the stress.

Good luck on whatever you are doing xdia....hope you get what you are looking for....

Correct me if I'm wrong....is it true that if you are working at LV as SA...you can't buy any new release or LE bags till 6 months later??? If only the bags are still around.
I have a friend who loves LV and she wanted to work at LV but she cldn't buy more than ?2 LV bags within a year...so she went to work for Chanel instead...and buy LV as and when she likes.

My SA told me recently that at her store everyone's hours were cut. Instead of working 40 hours a week, she's only working about 30 to 31 hours a week due to weak economy. But, she said that her benefits (health insurance and vacation) are still at the full-time level.

It may be difficult to get a job at LV right now depending on the location.

As for speaking more languages. Here in Antwerp ofcourse the SAs speak Dutch, but English and French are a must!! Depends on were you live I think. 3 languages is minimum here.
Good luck!
