How to keep the shape of your Birkin

After each use, I stuff it with the bubbles that came with it and felt protective cover over the flaps all strapped up (not through the metal holder though), put it inside its dustbag, and leave it in an upright position inside my purse cabinet with glass doors. After reading through this thread, I'm starting to wonder if I should put them to rest in their boxes :confused1:, in which I used to do until DH bought me the display cabinet.

Every time my Birkin gets a rest I stuff her with the air packs which she came in, put on the protective felt cover, cinch the side straps, place her in the dustbag, then into the box. Just like she came out of the store. I am quite disciplined about this because I can't imagine the horror of her getting out of shape! Weird, I know...

Your DH is a gem - he takes as much pride in your purses as you do!

I stuff my bags with the plastic pillows they arrived with, place them in their sleeper bag, then lay them on their side in their tissue filled boxes.....I "tuck them in" each time I finish carrying one...LOL. Then it goes up high on the top shelf in my closet!
All of my bags look brand new.

BTW- I treat my scarves and Hermes jewelry the same way.....weird, I know.

Well, then I'm just as weird as you! I do the same thing! :p

problem with storing the bags how they were when purchased is that eventually the air pillows deflate and are useless!

I noticed a company selling pillows to fill bags - has anyone tried anything like this?

I have a huge roll of bubble wrap and am thinking of trying it instead of the deflated pillows I have!

Yes the air pillows do eventually go. Roll of bubble wrap sounds like a great idea! The key is to have something light but filling. I used towel before but I personally found them to be heavy therefore left impressions on my soft leather birkin.

Just a few months ago i spoke to a leather specialist in my store she was doing a demonstration so i was asking lots of questions and she told a story of someone at H who was making an ostrich B who left the bag siting at her station overnight with a pair of scisors lying on top of the leather and when coming into work in the morning found where scisors lay you could see the different colour in skin that the moonlight had made in just one night so yes she said moonlight is worse than sunlight

WOW!! Remarkable!! This is very good to know!! ;)
