I put the stuffing that comes with bags back inside close everything back up and place inside dust bag then lay her back inside box on her pillow and box goes back inside wordrobe until next time, a craftperson told me never to leave in direct sunlight and surprisingly whats even worse for the leather is moonlight

I do too. No problem as of yet.

Yes I make my own pillows as in I go to the store buy a pillow choose a nice cover generally a color close to the bag and then remove or add stuffing to the pillow depending on how much they need my bouganvillier clemence 35 cm needed a more stuffing to actually help it hold it's shape than my vache liegge needed nothing and naturally my swift needed more and my shoulder needed two small tootsi roll type pillows to stay up straight I usually keep teem standing up but because I wear a birkin at some point three to five times a week so it really becomes a job to putthem down close the box lay the paper but I do love the feel of opening up the bag again and I always close them and add the HW mask they come with!!! Hope it helps birkel.

Really? Interesting - I had no idea.

My Birkin is my everyday bag, so the days I don't carry her are either really rainy days, or somewhere inappropriate, so if she's out of use, it's only for a day or two & she's got her own shelf in my (dark) closet.

I use down filled travel pillows covered in a lovely pillowcase for each bag. It seems to be enough "stuffing" for them to keep their shape.

And then I store them up-right on their bases inside by armoire. I can see every bag I have which makes it easier to rotate them (I don't have tons of bags) and they look pretty when I open my armoire in the morning.

BBL, it won't matter too much if the bag is sellier box bag, they are like iron, but if the bag is a soft leather it will cause unattractive creasing in the lower part of the bag to appear over time. This is not the same as a gradual and nice softness in the leather which happens with using the bag.

On their backs.

Well, thank you, Bababebi. That actually makes sense. It is impractical (IMO) to put the bags in their boxes. When I think back, I realize that most designers treat their bags this way. I hate to manipulate my Hermes boxes. So, when I put my togo retourne kelly to bed, she should sleep on her side, so her bottom doesn't wrinkle prematurely (like mine, LOL!)
The only bag I have a real issue with is my Double sens. She is mostly flat or folded. Oy, so many rules. Actually it makes sense.

Well, DH is going to love this...I'm gonna need a bigger closet for my bags to sleep side by side on their backs rather than stuffed and standing up :D Or I buy only boxcalf  Seriously, though, this is good to know, since I assumed that if I stuffed the softer leather Birkins enough, they would not develop that crease.

Well, OB, has lilOB outgrown her crib?, Because you could let the babies sleep side by side. I'm also thinking, that my togo kelly has been sitting on it's 35 cm bottom it's entire life. This is true of all of my other bags. Not one of them looks any the worse for wear. They are all good.

Even more than the filling, it is important to lay your bags down to sleep, that is, on their sides, they do not like to go to sleep upright. If you do that every time you will extend the life of your bag tremendously. I do not recommend stuffed and standing upright.

Not if there's anything inside the bag. The weight inside will weigh against the back zippered pocket, leaving a mark the shape of the pocket on the back.

Also, my Kelly has been out and upright every night for at least 8 months, but that one's VL, I don't think it's going to slouch any time soon! :smile1:

I do rotate my bags, with the one being used, stored at night stuffed, belted up and in
the sleeper bag on it's side. Then, if I will not be using it for awhile, it goes back in it's
box with the original air pillows, from the store, belted with the felt and sleeping peacefully
on her side on her "pillow"! I love the smell of the leather when you take them back out
of the box, just like the day it came home!!! That is a wonderful idea to put rolled up
towels in them while they put away for the night. So many wonderful tips on TPF!

The same procedure was recommended to me by the SA. A bit tedious but if you want to keep it's shape this is the best way imho. I don't understand why moonlight would affect the skin though..are moon UV rays that strong? (LOL)

Just a few months ago i spoke to a leather specialist in my store she was doing a demonstration so i was asking lots of questions and she told a story of someone at H who was making an ostrich B who left the bag siting at her station overnight with a pair of scisors lying on top of the leather and when coming into work in the morning found where scisors lay you could see the different colour in skin that the moonlight had made in just one night so yes she said moonlight is worse than sunlight

Wow *thumbs up*!!! Thanks for the knowledgable advice! I have been keeping them "standing" upright.
