umm, I've got an unrelated problem......

The handles on my paddy are getting soft with normal usage, I swear it's well taken care of. Do you have this problem? Do the handles get bent easily?

I think it depends on the bag, all my handles are wearing differently. I do try not to hang it by the handles unless it's on my shoulder, just to minimize the stress to the leather.

i was out for dinner the other day with my boyfriend and a few friends, and one of them knocked over his beer and it landed all over my python silverado (in congnac..my absolutely favourite bag..)
it mostly hit the leather part (where the zip is) and its really stained it..
im so devistated!!
has anyone heard of anyway to remove beer from that leather (and python skin)
i went to a professional bag cleaner/restorer and she thought the only way i could do it is to redye the leather...is that an awful idea??

what does everyone think??

do you think sending it to loving my bags would be a good idea??

I know its awful, but its harsh to ask somebody else to compensate, after all, these people are her friends, and im assuming it was a complete accident? He/she clearly did not mean to do this.

I once spilt a whole cup of coffee over a chloe bracelet bag, so I know how you are feeling, but I didnt try and get it cleaned as I know it would make it worse :(

I am so sad for your bag, but bags get damaged, is the stain so bad that you could not possibly use it ever again? I would air her to get rid of the smell of the beer, and then see how it comes out.

You can ask someone to compensate you who you know probably won't understand why you have such an expensive bag, and then friendships are strained.

I hate to say it: dye it. Go dark brown. Black, even. And while it sux (girl I am crying for you because I KNOW how it feels :crybaby: ) it is the best you can get out of the situation now. Dwelling on what happened can only make you feel worse. After you've grieved for your beautiful Cognac bag, try to smile at how it will be your new BLACk bag.

Purses are purses, after all, and while we love them dearly they go everywhere we do. We spill things on ourselves, others, and yes... bags. It's an occupational hazard!

Enjoy your newly coloured bag. EVERYONE will think it's new and if they ask, say, "I felt like a change!!"

Good luck

It's so distressfull to hear about your PYTHON getting a soaking. I agree with a PP'er, wait...let it dry for a long time. Get a second opinion from another restorer. In your emotional state do not make any decisions, again wait and take time to really think about it.

When it's dry perhaps you can use some of the lotions to even out the moisture marks, who knows?

Please keep us posted on your progress and last may your hard lesson be one for ALL of us.:sweatdrop:

If it comes down to redying certainly a good tanner can match the color (maybe CHLOE can do it for you??)......

I'm so sorry that this happened to you! I'm sorry that I don't have any new advice to offer, but I agree with waiting it out for a little while and see how bad the stains are after it dries completely.
Good luck with. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you and hope for the best!

ACK!

Sorry to hear about that. I wouldn't ask for compensation though. This is one of the reasons I am actually sooo paranoid to take my python silverado to a lounge, bar, or a club. I think they could definitely fix the leather, but the python scales, i'm uncertain about.
