When I was living in HK - they had me as a VIP customer - there was no card nor did I spend the kind of money mentioned in the posts above - I think a lot has to do with the SA and also maybe there are levels of VIP - I was probably at a frequent shopper level - I didn't get the 10% discount, but I did get first dibs (after the true VIPs) on merchandise, things were reserved for me - they still are even though I am in New York for as long as I needed, was able to have returns, and got invited to certain events. I was happy with that.

I just asked today they closed the VIP list so you can't get the 10% now even if you buy 250k they will keep track of your purchases only so i guess they will call you for new things but won't get the discount if you wanna become a new VIP ... oh well
Just curious. I am in HK and know that anyone who spends HK$330,000 within a year will become a VIP for the next coming year (i.e. one year only). And a VIP can enjoy 10% off on bags and will be invited to attend cocktail party/special occasions for all new issues of collections or anniversaries.

It's HK$350,000 and then to keep the status for the coming year you need to spend $250,000. But I thought the scheme has been abolished, as in Chanel does not accept any more new VIPs but it still honours it for the existing ones.

I'm not suprised that you have to spend that much if not more!!! My gf's from HK and her mum spends sooo much $$$ there that Lagerfeld flies her (1st class of coz) to his shows in Paris... She has Haute couture growns made by him for functions. Her parents are in the socialite pages in hk~~

Gosh talk abt hermes, I saw a 16 yr old girl wearing a black 35 birkin while waiting in line for SATC and she totally rocked it!! She wore it so nicely like the bag complements her not the bag wearing her KWIM. Seeing countless picture and real life people carrying the birkin, she won hands down. So chic!!

The girl in the W Magazine article is Mr. Lau's daughter. 'Mr. Lau' is pretty well-known in our Hermes thread for buying Birkins for his gf(s), mistresses, actresses, etc. haha
