How to become a VIP of Chanel and what are the VIP's privileges?

I have a different take on this VIP issue which I gather will go against a lot of ladies here given that there are lots of VIPs around here.

I see VIP status purely as a tool to get you spend more money that has no real benefit for the 'VIP' herself. I am certainly not a VIP; I do not spend $150,000 or HK$1,000,000 a year on Chanel clothes but fortunately somehow (and don't know how ) I have an invitation to the Haute Couture show next month, I get a discount at the Rue Cambon atelier, I got given two free bags already (medium lambskin classic flap and 2.55 evening bag with charms). And I must repeat, I am not a VIP.

Ultimately for all material possessions, I suppose money speaks. Want a Birkin? Go and get one off eBay. Want a Chanel Haute Couture dress, fly to Paris, plonk the money down and you will be treated like a frequent customer. Want a Patek Sky Moon Tourbillon? Go and get one (brand new condition) at Christie's on the 26th this month. Want Cartier Haute Joaillerie necklace? Go to the salon and put down a deposit. You will get one no problem.

P.S. But then I am weird :p because I don't like people sucking up to me - it is a bit artificial.

Postscript of postscript : Wait so if you spend $150,000/HK$1,000,000 a year, do you get invited to the haute couture show every season?

VIP? ha... were only VIPs so long as we are buying; then they call you for every presale and every new bag is placed on hold "especially for you"... however, dont buy a bag and oopsy... .VIP WHO?:wtf::wlae:

Do you purchase frequently???

I think how much we spend don't have relation on how to be a vip isn't it?
Because there's one person on this forum, who purchase only one bag and she got thank you not plus got invited on one of the show.

Being a VIP is totally relative to how your SAs really treats you. And how you spend $$ in relation to other clients in the same boutique, think about it: a boutique that's in Scottsdale, Arizona will have a different perception of how much their VIPs spend vs. a boutique in NYC or South Coast Plaza where the density of wealthy people is larger than that in say Arizona. It's relative.

I know I'm nowhere near a true VIP ($150K/yr on fashion??!) but my SA treats me very well, she reserves the bags she knows I would like and calls me. She's given me perfume once. I always request her when I come in and she treats me well even when I don't buy anything and make her pull out 6 different pairs of shoes. It's all about establishing the relationship.

I think everyone should be treated like VIPs in every store whether they buy or not. If SAs would want to make a sale, then they should treat each and everyone like they're important people. Hmmm just my opinion.

There is no more VIP given by Chanel now even u have spent up to the limit! But i guess if u have that kind of $ to buy so many Chanel per year, u don't really care the 10% off, only want the SA to treat u like VIP / Queen in the boutique...

I completely agree. I don't spend that much at Chanel, but I have a wonderful SA that definitely treats me like "VIP" (without the discount).

I think it's a combination of who you are (who you know), what you buy, and how much you spend.

For example, buy a couture dress, and you'll most likely be invited to the couture show. (Those shows, ultimately, are presentations to couture clients.)

I highly doubt buying 1 couture dress which can go up to the tens thousands will let you go to the couture show. The one lady who bought 1 bag and got invited to haute couture must be affiliated via employment (she may be an editor of haute culture mag, a lead buyer of a prominent store, rich famous husband or even rich and famous in her own right) there's great benefit of doubt...
