How often do you rotate your bags?

Bag inventory sounds like the answer to my prayers!! YAY! Is there an iPhone app that you guys recommend?

By the way, I have never thought to only use light coloured bags for summer and dark coloured bags for winter...where have I been all this time? Obviously not a bag expert like I thought hahahaha

This forum has opened my eyes to so many things :-)

TPF should create an App :graucho: Maybe there is an App that can be used for that purpose?

Light bags in summer isn't a must of course, depending on how you dress it up. But I find that I wear a lot of white or beige dresses and other airy things in summer so light colored bags seem to fit the whole mood.
In Fashion, different colors are also popular during different seasons. Neon pink for example, will always be biggest in summer, while any shade of dark red or purple is more of a fall color. And Pastels are always big in spring but can look out of place in Winter.

Though it depends on how things are dressed up too of course. I want to try making my pink bag work in fall and winter, maybe paired with simple black and white looks.

I think creating a bag inventory app would be simple enough (I'm not saying TPF should do this, just a general thought, as I am in software engineering/IT). However, any existing notepad or notepad-type application should suffice for now :D You can just list down all your bags there. I have a list in my laptop, and I also have one in my tablet. What I usually do is, same as you, I think of what outfit I'd like to wear. Then, I look at my list, and choose which bag would best suit the outfit (plus the weather based on the forecast). Sometimes, I do "reverse engineering" though - I look at my list of bags and figure out which one hasn't been used so much or which one I'd feel like using, then build my outfit based on the bag. :giggles:

I don't have nearly as many bags as many of the people on TPF though, so I can imagine some people have a much harder time with ensuring all their bags get used.

I think I will make a list soon to see if it helps :p

I own about 22 bags, but a portion of that (8?) is H&M or Zara, or really old canvas bags, and I don't feel bad if these don't get much use.;)

My higher end designer bags not so much because they are discontinued or vintage and if something were to happen to them.. then they would be difficult to replace. I do own a lot of mid range contemporary designer handbags too and have a large handbag collection. I used to change my bag daily but now once a week and it depends on the weather if its raining.

i use what ever bag i feel like and carry it for as long as it is working for me. e.g.- carried my black lv sofia coppola the entire winter- great bag very user friendly. i do try to notice bags that i don't carry and if one isn't coming up on the rotation i sell it.

There's the Stylebook app for general wardrobe. You can create categories and import pictures either that you take or find online, which is pretty easy with bags.

If you want to eventually import your clothes you can create looks, but there's also a calendar function if you want to save what bag you wore on what day. It's nice cuz it's visual so it's easy to see at a glance instead of reading a list.

It's not a free app though, so maybe only get it if you really are sure you want to do inventory.

Do you have this app? Do you know if you can use it on bags alone or do you have to do a 'complete' outfit for the calendar feature to work? Thanks!

I usually buy 2-4 bags a year. They're more costly (since I'm only buying a few), but i love wearing super fashionable purses without having to change bags everyday. 1 light and 1 black bag for daytime (larger), and 1 light and 1 black bag for nighttime!

Sometimes I wish I had some bags in funky colours... But I guess I tend to go with simplicity!

I have 5 bags in funky colours but find that I don't use them as often as my black or cream bags

My girlfriends always try to get me to stay away from my neutral coloured bags hahaha

Yep, I do. You can put individual pieces or a complete outfit into the calendar, but since you can put just one item in an outfit anyway, both ways would work.

I use it for everything, but you could use it for anything you want. It's just really an interface for photos. You make the categories and do the organizing yourself, so it doesn't do any recognition of the object at all. You could organize photos of cats and put them into the calendar if you wanted to. :P It's honestly probably a lot easier to use for bags since it's so much easier to find pics of bags against a solid white background online than clothes, though it's a bit over-featured for just bags.

Maybe actually just saving the photos of your bags and making an album on your phone would work too - it would give you a grid of your bag choices at a glance and you don't have to pay. You wouldn't be able to record it on a calendar, but it'd be free! The app does allow you to input price though, so it will calculate the total value of your collection and each month will show the most worn item and the most affordable cost/wear item.

Does it not have a free trial? It's been a while since I bought it so I can't remember. That's too bad if it doesn't. Here's their site, with lots of screenshots and feature lists:

Sorry for the tangent. I don't work for them or anything, I just like that it lets me see everything I have.

I bought it hahaha been busy adding all my bags .. pictures and prices! This app has made me realise how much I've spent. Crazy lady! No more..this is what I needed to curb my spending.

Thanks heaps :-)

I don't worry about making sure they all get used. If I need a certain color for the day, that's the one I use. Some are winter bags, some summer. And even if I go through a season without using one, it doesn't bother me. It is there for when I will need it. It doesn't hurt them to go unused. 10 years from now if I use one that I haven't used in between, it will be wonderful. It will feel like a new bag. :)

I pick the bag I want to use and actually choose my outfit based around the bag. I know that sounds crazy and many people do it the other way around, but I love my handbag collection and when I want to use a certain bag, I make sure I dress to accommodate it!

Just bought this app myself and I love it!! I've put my bags in it and already this weekend I've used two bags that didn't get used for at least a few months each because I actually felt like I was shopping them all over again as I scrolled through my options. It was a good reminder about how much I spent on some of these that just sit in their dust bags too.

It's fun seeing my bags on the app. Feels like they're new again. Very cool. :)
