How much does it cost for hair nowadays?

My hair maintence is $0 dollars. Except the cost of shampoo, conditioner, and leave-in conditioner. I have naturally curly hair and I have my brother shave it off once a year and just let it grow out for a year and then shave it again. A few years ago, I wanted something super super low maintenance. I am at the point in my life where I am not trying to impress anyone and know for a fact I am done with dating for life. It is almost time for my head to be shaved again but I think I might actually grow it out this time. I have dark hair with the some white streaks. I don't care about coloring it.

I bet you love having hair that's so low-maintenance. When your brother shaves your hair does he shave it down to the scalp? Years ago I lost my hair due to illness. Although I hated not having much hair, I loved being able to shower and shampoo, I loved being able to see and feel my scalp, and seeing my dry hair within minutes. It was so liberating! So freeing!

I think of that often, even years later, and that sense of freedom has influenced how I care for my hair. I love going to a salon to have a professional cut every so often, but I blanch at the bill, and the control freak in me is always critical. It's freeing to enjoy one's locks growing free, and to clip them off as you wish without consulting a professional or anyone else. Enjoy your hair regime. It sounds like a winner.

Yes, my brother shaves it down to the scalp. It is definitely freeing. All I have to do is shower, get out, and get dressed. If I go anywhere just add some leave-in conditioner. My hair is curly so it styles itself. Because its so short, i really don't even have to comb it. But lately, I have been loving gray curly hair that is a little longer. So I am thinking of growing it out. The only thing is that when my hair is longer it takes almost a 1/2 day to dry so I am a little hesitant because I don't like wet hair.

UPDATE:
Cut 180
Coloring 500

Definitely a scam but I am so loyal to my hair dresser I think it is worth it😂

I said the same thing, everytime I get out of the salon.
I look back at the Covid pics and ask myself, Do I really want to do this to myself?
Nope, so I whine and complain about the price for a day, forget about it and book my appointment all over again.

I used to pay cash for my hair, thinking it was to the stylist's advantage....now I use CC and the price doesn't bother me as much

Salon yesterday. Usually I do a little every so often and can stagger services (less expensive; a lot less time)

This time, all at once: cut, base color; highlights, lowlights, glosser, and simultaneous mani/pedi (simple buff) 924, including tax, but excluding tip (hair was about 800 of that). I do not see the celebrity stylist of my salon.

Yikes! What city was this if you don't mind me asking?

Southern California

Highlights, lowlights, toner, cut & standard blowdry = $380-420 before tip. I don’t think I technically need to tip bc he is the owner and it’s only him @ his studio but I do anyways.

I’m in the chair for 4 hours each time.

I get toner done in between each major session to keep the hair on the ashy side and prolong the look, around $120 for a toner.

I have no idea why the cost sometimes varies and never asked bc I don’t care. I’ve been with my hair guy for 7+ years and get compliments from strangers on the color & dimensions. I think my guy is on the less expensive side compared to some big salons or “celeb” stylists in LA.

Last time was $425.00 having highlights put in, cut and trim done.I do get grease in my hair working on heavy equipment as well which my stylist complains about and although I wash it good

Why is my hair stylist so sloppy?
I have color all over my face, I keep on telling them to please get the color off my face!
Does she secretly hate me?
I hope you're not paying top dollar for that sloppy service
And you're happy with the color? (other than on your face)
