How Many Coats Do You Own?

I think my habit/love of coats and jackets comes from going to college in a cold climate. It's easy for me to justify good outerwear! I'm a recovering addict now and have pared down a lot.

hmm, not counting 1 leather coat neither a short cape or fur vest (neither cardi coats or blazers/ jackets or sports/outdoor activity coats):

1 short Moncler light down coat in animal print
1 mid long Moncler light down coat, black
2 spring coats, multicolor and light blue, 1 navy spring short coat
1 Max Mara studio short fur coat
1 long black crepe coat, Sportmax
1 embellished black and white wool coat, Alberta Ferretti
2 wool coats by Samuji, one black, the other blue
1 black army parka w detachable fur lining
1 black mid long hooded wool coat, Max Mara
1 black wool coat, Hugo Boss
1 black short down coat, Sportmax
1 black vintage coat w detachable lining
1 black mid long down coat
1 black Burberry trench
1 black and white long vintage fur
1 black shearling coat, Giambattista Valli
total 19, I think

In addition, I have 5 coats and/or jackets on their way out. I need to stop buying coats, seriously. It's gotten out of hand these past years. My excuse is living in a cold climate. The only thing really missing from my collection is the perfect black knee long fur coat. Then I'm set:p.

Too many to count. Stopped at 29 and hadn't started jackets or furs in off site storage. When you live in a place with four very distinct seasons, have lots of different of interests and travel it's almost impossible to have too many coats. I pick them up when they appear at a fair price so I don't need to go shopping or if I needed a specific type of coat I'll go on a hunt a the next major sale.

Love the lists of everyone who took the time to count, fascinating reading. I'll be back with a list eventually.

If I included lighter-weight coats and jackets for mild weather into the tally I don't want to think about it.

As for a number of coats for temperatures below 40 degrees F, I estimate around 20. A couple are for freezing miserable weather, others range from casual to formal in various lengths and for different temperature ranges. Most are black.

I have lost track of the total and am not proud. Those currently in rotation are:

2 Burberry wool coats
1 Moncler puffer
1 MaxMara wool coat
1 Canada Goose parka
1 HideSociety sherling coat

Since a coat is required for about a third of the year here, I justify the number/price of coats I purchase.

Loving this thread! I have actually made it a priority to rotate my coat/outerwear this season, so far so good. I wanna weed out all those that do not fit well, do not make me like a million bucks.

Black wool coat, just above the knee
Red wool coat, mid thigh
White wool coat, mid thigh
Light grey wool coat , short
Blue/black buffalo plaid wool coat, short
Black Winter puffer, below the knee
Grey Winter puff, short
Red & blue Puffer vest x 2, short
Faux fur vest, short

There is a (13 year old, below the knee) heather grey wool coat that I am planning to shorten to mid thigh. Who knows, maybe it will get a new lease of life

So, I clocked within 15. Hooray!;-)

Way too many-long ones, short ones, down, wool, leather, hooded, not hooded. Living in NY, I find a need a variety in terms of seasons and changes in temperature. I will never give up my trusted ankle length North Face down-it has seen me through so really wicked winters!!
