How is your epsom bag ageing?

Reviving an old thread. Just wondering if this is normal wear & tear. Bought a Blue Paradis Epsom B35 late March this year direct from the store & after using it twice I noticed some corner wear. Didn't think much about it until I had another closer look after using it less than 6x. Was shocked to see there's some wear over the piping & it kept spreading up with each use & on removing the twilly, it looks like the layer of paint has chipped off the handle. I continued wrapping it with twilly but panicked when it kept getting bigger.

I treated the bag just the same as my other H bags (but they were in Clemence, Togo, grain dh/swift) & all of them are still in great condition. I've used an Epsom silk'in wallet for more than a year & no issues with scratches or paint peeling. I know Epsom especially in big bags gets corner wear easily but should it be that quick to spread up the piping? & I've never had any issues with my bag handles before. I don't know if I've scratched it but the other handle is intact & I've always kept my nails short (for work).

I decided to take the B back to the store when I noticed they were all getting bigger (even bigger than in the pic). I said to the SA if this is normal, I'm happy to wait 'till it badly needs a SPA before sending it off. He didn't think it looked like normal wear & tear & so sent it to another state for opinion. He asked me whether to send the clochette too & when we looked at it closely, it had a circular whitish spot similar to the piping on the lengthy leather part. I don't wear moisturiser or perfume. The SA rubbed the area & it didn't look like it was stained by something. I should've taken a photo of it as it looked unusual.

So I haven't heard from them since dropping the bag off late April. When I asked, the staff assumed the bag has been sent to Paris. I just asked them for an update today & she said it may take up to 4 months to hear back from them.

Having spent so much on a bag, you wouldn't expect to pay few hundred extra to repair something you just used less than a month.

So the wait continues....

All the ladies here are so lucky to have their favorites, i dont know but you must be all very charming to have such beautiful bag.
I am going thru the process of finding the right leather for me. Love love the epsom structure and look but after reading the problems with the corners I worry alot. Since you are experienced in epsom can you let me know how things have been with corners issues and how you dealt with it. Will be sooooo grateful in guiding me 🤔

My constance elan is epsom and ive had it for 5 years...used a lot and travelled through europe with it. Its still perfect. Although very different size and shape from birkins and kellys...much smaller bag. Sorry pic is so dark.

I asked Hermes repair women whom is the artisan that actually repairs bags and she says that Epsom is one of Hermes' most strongest leathers and that corners can be fixed/refurbished so there should be no fear in purchasing or using an Epsom bag. Epsom takes color beautifully and holds it shape very well so certain bags like RC in B30 or Kelly looks spectacular in my opinion and would not be the same color and retain its shape as well in other leathers.

This is reassuring, but how come over the years we read so much here about Epsom corners not possible to be fixed? Can someone who has taken their Epsom bags to spa share their experience or maybe before after pics? I have two Epsom bags with peeled corners but the whole bag is not used enough to go to spa yet....

I have a Kelly wallet in Epson and while the color is beautiful I would never purchase a bag in this leather.
Because it is pressed leather it isn't as easily refurbished.
Either you like it or not. While I can understand that many prefer the lightweight feel and lovely color options, I prefer a more natural grain and feel.

1. Has anyone taken their epsom bag to the Hermes store for cleaning, and if so, did the spa treatment make it more shiny or did it stay matte? My epsom bag needs cleaning but I love the way it is still somewhat matte and dont want to risk loosing that in a cleaning.
2. Self help - are lexol cleaning wipes ok to use on it? Ive tried fragrance free baby wipes but not really working.
3. Any other advice welcomed and appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Hi Everyone,

I apologize if there is a thread on this already.
I have the opportunity to purchase a 15 year old Kelly 28 sellier, Epsom with GHW. I went to see it this morning and I love it. It is in overall fantastic condition. My only concern - there are some minor scratches/scuffs on the bag, no dents. The minor scratches appear to be consistent with wear. My question is - for those of you that own Epsom leather bags- how has it held up for you over the years, and if you had to do it over again, would you purchase Epsom again?
I read somewhere here that Epsom scratches can't be fixed because of the pressed texture of the leather. Even when spa'd the scratches aren't fixable. I would really appreciate some feedback and clarity before purchasing.

The photos are in the next post. It shows up more in different lighting. Would really appreciate an opinion.
Thank you!
