But today I nearly had a heart attack because for the first time hubby and I happened to walk across the store he insisted to check it out 😱 !!! He lifted the price tags of the beanies and the scarfs and literally opened his mouth in shock then went on to look at the display items which I have at home but luckily the bags (as we know) don't have price tags... Anyway to cut the long story short in the end he was convinced the bags that I have at home are fake. I told him the glossy plasticky bags (vernis) are plastic and they are being make everywhere, however only the ones sold in the store have a date code and a skyrocketing price tag

That would give me a heart attack. My DH would have one too if he knew the cost of just one of my Chanel bags, let alone my entire designer bag collection!

Luckily I was able to divert his attention to the luggages and their history which apparently were too much of a bother to him either to inspect or to endure hearing lol he left the store within five minutes

Lol funny story... I can't imagine how my fiancee would react if he knows the price of my bags...

As for me I usually avoid ebay or 2nd hand stuff. I pay for my own bags but wait until big sale on the main designer website. Basically I only pay on discounted price.

Currently I'm a stay at home mom. Worked as an engineer for about 3 years before having a baby. Was extremely frugal and never bought any designer bags until earlier this year. That was a start that got me hooked! Bought 2 bags in 2 months. (Yes! I'm a newbie.) Should I slow down to avoid impulsive buys? How do you people manage?

I was very impulsive and some times still am but after selling on load that I only brought because they were a good price I've started to think carefully about each purchase and spend more on a single bag, it's way worse if you deny your self the bag you truly want and instead buy 2/3 other nice bags, your still going to want the first bag :) also don't be pursuaded by all the reveals! Just because it suits someone else doesn't mean it's right for you and keep in mind the colors you will actually wear and styles that you like :)

That is such a good point (i.e., tempted by reveals). Every time I see a purple rain PS1, I begin to drool... but I have nothing to wear with a bag of that color.

Just save.. and get what you really want.. you will always think about it!

So true! I'm exactly like this. If I deprive myself of something I'll end up spending more than the cost of the thing I really want plus in the end I'll give in and get it anyway. LOL

That's why my most use phrase is "never compromise of things you like"

Does anybody charge on credit then pay it from their debit account right away? I'm 19 next month and am going to be applying for a credit card soon once I'm working full time. I'd really like to build up good credit especially while I'm young so I was thinking whenever I make purchases I put it on my credit then use my bank app to pay it off right away (that way I am more disciplined and am having the money taken out of my debit right away.. I don't like the idea of not paying it off for a month then being shocked at the end of the month when I see the money leaving my debit card all at once if that makes sense)

The only time I use my credit card to buy handbag is when I'm shopping online. Normally I just use my ATM card or cash when doing some shopping coz if I can't afford to pay it I wont dare to get it. Piece of advice don't use your credit card to buy things you want because life is very unpredictable today you may a job & tmr is another story.

P.S.
I also set up a fund for my handbags obsession so I don't to use my savings.
