How do you afford your bags and how many per year? Credit debt or millionare lover?

Hubby and I are both IT executives in a multinational firm. Frankly, his salary alone can pretty much cover the costs for us and our one daughter (with extra), so everything I make goes to savings and other little "luxuries" :)

I save up, and a big part is I sell items I own in order to pay for the bag I want.
Stuff I no longer use and want I sell and put that money towards a new bag.

In saying that, I just purchased my "final" bag tonight. Making my wardrobe more minimalistic.

I have a good job so I buy them myself! I shop mostly with my debit card, occasionally cash. DF is supportive even though he may be slightly in the dark about their real sticker prices (whistles with hands in pockets...)

I'm not above buying a purse preloved - in fact the most expensive purse I own was preloved from a consignment shop. The vast majority of my clothes are TJMaxx/outlet mall/sale rack finds. Even though I like to be stylish, I'm definitely a value shopper!

I buy all excellent condition, authenticated preloved bags. That way if I am not "in love" with a bag, I re-sell and move on":) I actually have paid for my first Chanel flap solely on money I made re-selling the bags I decided I didn't really like!! I have a few LV and two chanel I am happy with..... for now:) :smile1:

It was a lot easier to afford a bag per month when I had a full time job :)

Nowadays, it's usually selling a few bags in order to upgrade to one nicer one. Or vice versa, when I sell a high end bag so I can afford a bag I absolutely must have in a few colors. In my case, I sold an LV to fund 3 different pre-owned MJ Stams in different colors (the latter is a bit tricky because it is much harder to get back what is gone, especially if high end so I really have to want the bag).

The one bag out/one bag in approach works when the motivation is there.

I'm 24 and graduated not too long ago. Moved to the big city and got a full time job (but not exactly in the field I had in mind). My bags were purchased with money I'd saved from high school and university part-time jobs, my current job, and some monetary gifts from my mom, sister and DBF. I was very frugal as a teen, my parents didn't allow me to mindlessly spend money on makeup and going out. I use my credit card, but I pay it off each month, and I made a rule for myself, which I abide by pretty well: one expensive bag a year. Pretty proud of myself! :)

My husband is an executive in a Multinational company while I run an import and distribution business and a partner at my dad's construction company. We have no debts and even with my husband's income alone is more that enough for a family with 3 kids, my income mainly goes to our savings, kids pre-need plans, and some luxury purchase here and there. We are firm believers of not spending what we don't have hence we don't use credit cards as we don't like having debts. Most purchases I make are by cash or debit cards only.

My job provides me with an excellent income+I live with parents, in my culture the son/daughter only leave the nest when they get married or absolutely need to live abroad. So no worries about the rent here. No credit card debt or anything like that thankfully! I'm currently saving up to study abroad for my graduate degree so I stick to only 2 premier designer bags a year, I'm a minimalist and I'm not fond of the idea of building up a huge collection anyway

I normally have a reasonably well paid job, although currently between contracts, and am lucky not to have any major outgoings such as a mortgage - plus I don't drive so that saves the expense of running a car (I do contribute towards the cost of DH's vehicle though). I also own a house separately which is rented out, so the additional monthly income after tax is split between extra savings for DH and I and a little 'fun' money if I want to buy or save for something. However, I generally fund my bags by selling unwanted items online and I try to observe a one in and one out approach. I have just bought a Chanel Cerf tote but moved on an LV bag and some accessories to help pay for it. I rarely use credit, having got myself into trouble in the past running up a large credit card bill.

I am 26, married. I have good online business & 1 small restaurant so it helps paying for those damn expensive handbags :D. I paid for most of them myself but I did get some from ex-boyfriend and my DH. My parents have no clue about the price of my handbags otherwise they would complaint all day. In my family, there is no money for those luxury things.
