How do you afford your bags and how many per year? Credit debt or millionare lover?

About to purchase my wife her first "expensive" (relative to me) bag for Christmas. I joined this forum to better educate myself and seek some advice and in the process I now know way more about handbags than I ever desired to. I am also scared that I might be opening Pandora’s box…

I'm 25, working at a stable and fair paying job. I pay for my own bags and also carry a mortgage on my condo (parents pitched in for the downpay of course). I always buy using credit card for the points and air miles, but I do make sure to pay back in full at the end of the month, always.

I'm 25 a stylist so I've accumulated a few pieces alone every year. I've always been spoiled by my ex boyfriends as I trained them. Teenage love doesn't last but Lv and gucci do. Classics OFCOURSE. Now my bf is a heart surgeon so that helps a lot. My prized jewel so far is my ss and yellow gold diamond marker rolex. Lots of Chanel gucci etc. I am now trying to grow my hermes collection.

I work as a nurse. I used to buy less expensive bags and more of them. Then I started buying FP Boutique Coach, about three or four a year. Then a couple of LVs the past couple of years, and 2 vintage LVs. Now I am saving for my first Bal. I figure...it's the same amount of money whether I spend it on fifteen $100 dollar bags or one $1500 bag that I really love. I am spending the same amount of money, just different kinds of bags.

I'm 22 years old, been working since 18 and just last year moved to Hawaii with my Bf of 6 years. We stay on our own, he's in the Air Force (we're getting married this year) and I just started buying higher end purses.. I have a fulltime job and don't have any kids yet. We pay our rent, our new truck, and everything on our own! We save for bigger purchases and only buy them a few times a year! We both have good heads on our shoulders and budget extremely well!

That's my little story. :)

I'm happily unemployed for the moment and hubby recently landed a job that allows us to pay our bills, save, and buy what we want for the most part (he likes video games, I like bags). We don't use credit cards for anything except gas for our cars (they get paid off in full every month) and we have recently become debt free after paying off both of our cars last year.

Since I stick mostly to contemporary designers, my bags aren't crazy expensive to begin with, and on top of that I tend to buy pre-loved or deeply discounted bags at outlets or department stores, so my annual expenditure amounts to maybe $500, and that's a high estimate. I always pay in cash, and have never spent more than $200 on a single bag. I grew up in a paycheck-to-paycheck household and I still find it very difficult to buy what I would consider to be luxury/frivolous items and often feel guilty for it, but I'm getting better!

I'm very fortunate to have a job and that I earn my own money. I'm about to buy my holy grail bag this weekend (I won't need any more bags after that, apart from a duffle bag for gym). I'm also currently focusing on saving for my first car. I will never be able to afford to even rent a small apartment due to my retail supervisor salary, so I have no objection to paying board-and-lodging to my parents. On that note, I've vowed to never get a credit card.

Almost all of my designer bags were purchased online overseas (more choices) so I pay them using Paypal (credit card). I am a SAHM and my husband is a seafarer/electrical engineer so his income is my primary source of shopping money. But I also sell on ebay so there are times when I can proudly say that I paid my purses from money from my own hard work! :D

Most of my bags are pre-loved or on deep, deep discount.

I have not had a credit card since 1996 so I pay for all of my handbags with cash only. I have very few bags that I'm attached to so I don't have a problem selling one to get money for the next.

I buy all my bags myself :) my husband knows I buy them but I keep him in the dark about the actual cost. He doesn't appreciate the happy feeling owning a gorgeous bag can bring! Generally if I want to purchase a bag I work overtime to save up for it. I also buy pre loved bags and recently got a gorgeous fendi B bag at a snip. I would say I get maybe 2-3 bags a year and always look out for sales and offers.

I am 32 and work in IT for the government. Have no credit owing anywhere but I do own a credit card for online purchases. I collect really expensive dolls which ends up taking most of my "spare" money but I manage to buy myself a bag and shoes here and there. :D
