Welcome! What you experienced, esp those highlighted in bold, is normal for Switzerland. Shops here operate very differently from those in other continents and from what you read generally in TPF. Nothing personal.

I can say this though: once you’ve established yourself as a valued and SERIOUS customer, they’re more open to reserving items or even wishlist of B or K.
In my experience, SAs here help each other. Bag wishlist for B or K is linked to a particular SA but I don’t bother my principle SA for other things like online purchases, shoes, scarfs, even RTW.

I would recommend you to continue with her and mention your Kelly wish as she has met you a few times. K and B are given on wishlist basis. It will take a while and you might need a wishlist appointment but they are used to this request.

HTH and good luck!

ETA: I imagine the shops in non-german speaking kantons, plus those in tourist areas such as St. Moritz might operate even more differently.
Thank you very much for your response and sharing your experience!

So do I understand correctly that in ZH boutique you don’t have to stick to an SA but to the brand generally? And they don’t mind ordering online then and just picking it up in the store? So this “SA game” is not relevant for ZH?

Also for example do I understand it right that if I want let’s say a Kelly belt and they don’t have it in the boutique and can’t order it online I might just be waiting for my SA for 30-40 minutes and leave empty handed without even a chance to get it? I think I don’t understand the concept then - why having an SA if he/she can’t help you getting the items except of B/K/C?

And “serious” customer is what exactly - spending thousands and thousands? Well, unfortunately I don’t have this type of purchasing power. I mean I can come and buy a scarf, a pair of shoes or something for home once in a while but I can’t buy a watch or any of expensive fine jewelry - so I am not a serious client then? :)

Sorry for a lot of questions but I am bit confused…

I thank you in advance for your answers if it’s not too much :)

1. My SA suggested to me early on to go to store, order the items I need online with them at the store, pay at the store and get the items delivered to and picked up from the store. They wish to ensure that I get the items I need and sometimes the store doesn’t have it, and will never get it, so better buy online.

The problem with this in TPF or other countries is that it’s discouraged because we need to score brownie points with an SA and here, we are encouraged to buy what we want or need.

2. See point 1.

3. That’s the reality of shopping with Hermes. Buying power is a real thing and there’s no way around it. However, I feel that the chance of getting B or K here with less spend is better than in other countries.

As a newish customer with no trust fund, I show my 'seriousness' by considering my purchases carefully. They know I am upgrading some of my stuffs to Hermes and they know how I use my items. They know I am 'serious' as I only buy what I need, want and what suits me (eg. No mini bag ever) So far I haven’t bought jewelleries, which I think are ridiculously priced. I am also patient and I understand, as I don’t have money to burn, I might have to take a back seat in terms of getting a B or K.

I am sure others have different experiences (there are some newcomers above that succeeded) and I am sure if one drops 100k on the yummy sofas, it would be yet another different experience. I can only share what I know. Sorry it’s long. HTH.

Hi Ladies,

Does anyone know if it’s relatively possible to score a mini lindy/mini evelyne or picotin 18 in neutrals colours such as Gold, Noir or etoupe from Hermes Basel? My brother and sister-in-law are visiting Basel for few days and I’m thinking of asking them to try to visit the Hermes Basel if it’s relatively easier to score any of those bag from the Basel store. Also, do they need to make appointment to visit the store or they can just simply turn up in the store? Thanks in advance :)

I’ve seen tourists walk in (recently) and got offered Picotin 22. But they seem to be reserving Picotin 18 for local customers. Or perhaps with some good prespend you can get offered Picotin 18? But personally I wouldn’t do pre spend for a Picotin. Mini Lindy is difficult even for local customers with consistent spend history. The difficulty level is almost at the quota bag level. I also personally wouldn’t invest so much energy and money for a mini Lindy. Personal preference. ;)

Hello there! Sorry to hear about your experience. Must feel discouraging. My personal read is that you haven’t quite established yourself as a serious customer yet, similar to what Helvantara has said. The SA are very busy with lots of customers to serve and arrange appointments with. So at the moment you haven’t proved to be ‘worth the while’. Sorry for being blunt. The SA I got randomly paired with the first time I walked in gave me her email after my first purchase. She let me email her to make appointment. I wouldn’t say she was very invested in me yet though. One time she accidentally double booked me with her other customer and had to leave me with another SA. I would say I didn’t make strong enough of impression until my 5th or 6th time when I purchased a few pieces of fine jewelry in one shot. (It’s hard to see them in stock so I seized the moment when I see what I like in store). After that she invited me for the Christmas shopping event which I knew I had to drop a few thousand there too. (I’m sure that’s not a lot for Hermes lol) But I know at that moment I’m on her list now. But even that she didn’t offer me her WhatsApp until after a few more visits and I had to ask myself. I hope this gives you some frame of reference. But of course everyone’s experience is not directly comparable. Perhaps my SA was more junior so she was willing to give me a chance? I don’t know. But I know I’m not VIP level big spender. There are plenty of those in Switzerland!

If you’re serious about this ‘journey’, you should get a consistent SA. While SA do help each other, and your overall spend in the Zurich store (ie your profile) is an important aspect of your journey. You need one principle SA to offer you a quota bag. Even better, an opportunity for a SO. I was recently offered one which really gave me more assurance about my relationship with my SA. Question to yourself: do you like the female SA that gave you her email? She doesn’t seem that interested in you yet but I can’t judge whether that can change over time. I don’t know your spend level and also her seniority. I don’t know whether it’s best to try another SA or continuing with her. If she’s quite senior, maybe it would be harder for you to leave an impression. Something you can probe when you chat with her next time. My gut feel is to try someone else. But that’s a pure guess!

It puzzled me of what really happened. 16 months ago I placed my wishlist for a Kelly bag. I visit my local store for at least once a month. For like 2 different visits, I was assisted with different SAs and I just simply ask how’s my wishlist and they checked and they saw that it’s in the system. Then last April, I had a quick chitchat with my SA about my wishlist and told me that she will refresh it to his Manager. Then, this Saturday I went and bought a mini lindy and assisted with another SA (in my store it’s not common to stick to one SA, they will assist you whoever is available in the department). I simply asked my wishlist as it’s been more than a year already. She checked and she said that in the system I only placed my wishlist this April and found out that my SA already left with Hermes. I explained and she said that she will inform her manager and maybe they can put my wishlist as per the date that was placed. Any input?

You’re in Switzerland right? I wonder if Swiss stores also have expiry date for wishlist hese days. I peeked once when my SA put in my wishlist (it happened this year, forget the month) and it has a period. Could you ask in the Swiss thread to get more input?

Hi thanks for your reply. As per the SA, sometimes it happens due to some technical issues but she didn’t mention about the expiration. I’m no longer expecting to get my wishlist but I still continue shopping.

Hi community,
I am new to the H game and my goal is to score a birkin/kelly in the future. I am currently building up my purchase history (in small steps of course) I have only been to the store in Zurich 2 times, but don't quite understand how the concept works. Does every customer get a SA? I remembered the name of my SA because I didn't get a business card or anything. But I'm not sure if I always have to go to her now and do I have to make an appointment beforehand via customer service? I am a little confused. I would love to hear about your experiences

Hi community,

I am moving to Zürich next month and want to start my H journey in Switzerland. I have read all posts here but still have questions.

1. What is the best way to make an appointment for my wishlist? Just walk-in for making appointment only, or asking after purchasing any item?
3. Can I make a wishlist in other H boutiques, e.g., Geneva, after Zürich?

Any insights would be highly appreciated  Thank you in advance for sharing your insights.

Hello,

Only 1 Wishlist at a time :) Geneva is the worst store in term of waiting time (wins the 3y wait for a Birkin).
