I've missed so much while I was gone!! Suzie and margieb, congrats!!

My H dreams have to be put on hold for just a little bit. My family has suffered two setbacks. One affects us financially and the other just put some things in perspective for me. I can't even think about H right now due to these two things :( Maybe next year ... But until then I can live vicariously through you guys.

I did post my twilly pics in the "show us your twillies" thread if you guys want to take a look. The search function seems to be disabled, so I couldn't find my original thread ...

P-B, hang in there hon, it will happen for you and we will be here for you during this difficult time when you feel like venting!

Thanks so much , ChocoGrace, doubtfulguest, miss_white_lily, Kelly_Birkin, and Suzie!! You ladies are truly, truly sweet and I really appreciate it. Thanks a lot. :flowers:

srq, buy from your heart. As our motto around the board is if it doesn't make your heart sing, don't purchase it. :) I know H is expensive, but how wonderful that there are still places in the world where you can purchase what would really be described as authentic luxury. I know I'm going to cut down on things like make-up, skin care, and other impulse buys and I'm going to see how much I have in October so I can treat myself to a little H something for my graduation present. :) If you are truly disappointed in Hermes, maybe the brand isn't for you - that's not a bad thing. We all can't like everything. Good luck. :)

Thanks for the advice! I will definitely be making some choices about what is or isn't for me, and what I feel is worth the money ;)

srq, do you like scarves? That'd be a good place to start.
If you like more practical items - check out the tea cups, they
are gorgeous.

--and would you consider an Evelyne bag? It's cheaper than
the Hermes Bag Trinity - Birkin, Kelly, and Bolide - and it's
stunning and a great entry bag. Same with the Picotin. :)

Good luck. :)

P-B, I hope that you're feeling better. As Suzie said we'll always
be here should you need to vent. :)

OK - I picked up my special order Kelly yesterday after nearly 30 years of lusting after one. Is it worth the wait? Oh yes! I've had lots of setbacks, personal and financial in my journey to this point and have had to reprioritise my life at various points but my message is ' BE NOT DISMAYED'. Hermes as an organisation has stayed the distance and so can you. I'll post pictures etc in the main forum when I've worked out how to make a digital camera go.

Best wishes to all here - we're all in the same boat!

I've stayed out of the H forum because it just hurts my heart not to be able to indulge as much as I like, but I've strengthened my resolve (I think) so I'm back. I better add my name to this list for the support I'll need! :s

You know what sucks? I'm not in an environment at my workplace where I can wear a Birkin/Kelly every day. So I honestly can't justify picking up H pieces as much as I'd like (a rainbow of Birkins and Kellys, please!). I'm aiming for a 'work' bag for my year-end gift to myself.

Help me stay strong, ladies!

Yup, me too. I work in the oil industry and it's VERY casual (jeans, t-shirt free-for-all), so a Kelly or Birkin is out of the question. Good thing for me they aren't my style. That said, I'm trying to incorporate scarves (plisses rock a t-shirt!) and the more casual bags as suggested are my goal (cough-Potiron Picotin-cough). Plus, I can have a whole rainbow in whatever bag I'm carrying and it's like my little secret H-garden!

Hey, thanks for your ideas. I think you might have the idea that i'm a gal, but [sometimes] alas, je suis homme. I know some men do rock the scarves, but it's not quite my look. I am pretty classic...dark jeans, loafers, and oxfords and polos are my staples.

I have a couple of H things on my list for others in the family...a twilly for my best friend whos birthday is in june and who always gets me expensive gifts from Prada or Vuitton, and a lagon ulysse for my mom, who would never buy anything from H for herself. I just can't seem to find anything for ME! Maybe I should get us matching Ulysses and be done...Or maybe I'm just forcing it and should take a breather...

Again, thanks for the input

LT, It sounds like you had to go through a great deal - but I'm
very happy for you that you got your Kelly!! Congrats!! :)

ffo, your work situation sounds like me - even I could afford
them tomorrow - I could not bring a Kelly, Birkin, Bolide, HAC
to my work - there's just no way. But there are plenty of under
the radar bags that I'm considering. Hermes makes many many bags,
check out those Brand Mall Catalogs from Japan.
I'm going to cut down on make-up and skin care and only
buy WHEN I need something. If I added all my credit card
receipts from the early 2000's, I probably could've had a Picotin
and an Evelyne by now. ;)

srq, oops, sorry. :)
there is a brown and orange twilly that
duncan_ made into a cuff...and there's a graphite (I think
that's the color) HAC that one of the male tpf'ers purchased
and it looks fantastic. :)
Check out the ready to wear section too!!! and you can still
get a teacup, there's many unisex designs. :)
Speaking of unisex, I think guys can totally rock the
CDC bracelets - they remind me of the hard rock music
of my youth. ;)
