Does anyone else ever get to a point where you've researched and researched and lusted and lusted only to get to the store, ready to purchase, and be vaguely disappointed/unimpressed?
I have been in France (as many of you might remember from previous posts), and been back and forth to Paris, been to Florence, London, etc, and looked and browsed all over for Hermes things (as well as other small agenda/wallet-esque items from Bottega and Goyard). I'm pretty sure that from Hermes, I want either a small agenda (like a vision II) or a notebook (like the ulysse). I have very little use for ties, and as beautiful as the belts are, they just don't amaze me quite enough to justify the $600+ pricetag. Shoes are great too, but again, paying $900+ for dress shoes just doesn't work for me right now, as they would probably sit in the closet more than being worn.
So, today, I went into George V to look around. Well, I looked at the ulysse gm in Lagon, which I really like (something like 194 euros, which i think is less than it says on the website). So I suppose that is a possibility. Then I saw the Globetrotter (non zip) with pencil loops in barenia, and that was gorgeous too (324 euros if i remember correctly). So I thought, those would both be great. But why is the globetrotter more expensive in barenia than in swift, and freaking 865 euros in lizard? and should I spend ~$500 for an agenda in barenia that is gorgeous but
sorta boring. Should I look for something more exciting? And then the massive number of leather and color possibilities really started to intimidate me.
Whew.
So whatever. I'm going back to Bordeaux tomorrow, and will have more possibilities to browse at the H there. I guess I'm just ready to pull the trigger, but can't make a decision about what will be best in the long-run (barenia [beautiful] over swift or chevre [sturdy]).
please let me know if you have any general comments or ideas
Hope you all are doing well! xo
