don't go shopping just to go shopping. only go when there is something specific you want/need! i find that if i go browse around with my mom or a friend i spend so much more than i would have, had i had a particular goal. i pick up new perfumes, gloves, uggs, a bracelet... it adds up! even if each item is less than $100. so when i want to walk around, i just walk outside instead! the mall can be dangerous.

This is so true, especially about the way small things add up.

I am already implementing New Years resolution to shorten slacks from like last year, get things fixed and shop in my closet, which has yielded stuff I didn't know I had. Am also sewing from my fabric stash. Got my sewing machine repaired and it's humming away.

Hi Ladies! Thank goodness for a thread like this... I think my DH is tired of hearing me vent about my dream bag, lol. I have been wanting a Birkin 35cm in Togo either Rouge or Gold with GHW for a very long time now, but can never find one :( even though I have the means to pay for one.

Fortunately for me, DH does well financially and supports me on getting one. He loves all things classic and timeless and is a collector of fine watches, so he knows and feels my pain on why I am obsessed, lol.

DH has taken me to the H store in HK, Ginza, Hawaii, Las Vegas, Beverly Hills, and SCP. Each time, I leave sad and empty handed. We were told "Sorry, no Birkins," in HK, Hawaii, Las Vegas, Beverly Hills, and SCP. I asked to be placed on the list or do a SO and each and every time the answer is the same, "Sorry, you just have to keep checking back." However, the H store in Ginza did have many Birkins available, but none in the specifics that I wanted, so I left empty handed. I was so sad when we were back at the hotel that DH called the hotel and Amex concierge to look for it for me. Thinking back, I now wish I would've just bought either the black or tosca in Ginza since it is now impossible for me to even get my hands or name on a Birkin.

DH and I are going to Vegas in 2 months and DH tells me that he is certain that the H store in Bellagio will have Birkins, but I am not holding my breath on it. It will be a miracle if they do, and this time, I am getting whatever they have. Wish me luck!

Good luck on your hunt in Vegas... Try H store at Encore...a few of my friends got lucky and got their B from the store...

Thanks :). I was actually in Vegas last month and went into the H store in Bellagio. Sadly to say, no birkin :(. Tried my luck for a lindy and there was none as well. I think I am slowly getting over it. If it happens, great! But now, I am just over trying to hunt it down.

I'm 38...turning 39 soon!
I had to pass through a hard period, for sentimental and job (my family's tradition went lost) reasons.
Now things are going a little bit better (I'm even considering the idea to recreate my family's activity), but in the last couple of years I've been very rational, as wasn't sure of my future. I enjoyed buying tons of books, while having the time to read them and forgot about bags for a while.
Now I want to stay rational even if my future is less uncertain.
So I don't want to waste money anymore buying "it bags", and try to focus on my style and long term choices.
I prefer to be patient, save my money, buy what I "need" (also if to be honest, we don't need designers' shoes, clothes and so on) and choose carefully, preferably spending for things that will stay with me for the longest time.
I started buying an Hermes massai a couple of years ago, and I love it.
Now I bought a 31 bolide mou. Both preowned.
Next one is going to be a red Kelly. I'll take my time, go to the store to try on the 28 and 32. I'd love a rouge H. box Kelly retourne, but I've also seen gorgeous rouge H. on other leathers (like chevre de coromandel and palladium hardware!). But no hurry: Hermés is always there, and hope it always will. Meanwhile I'll enjoy what I have.

Bella Babi, sei forte!:hugs:

I'm currently saving for a bunch of gorgeous H stuff
I've been selling 2 other bags that I didn't use that often anymore and taking some extra shifts at work.
I plan on getting an Evelyn GM or TGM, a Dogon wallet, Calvi card case, 6 Key holder, a scarf and maybe also a Karo GM :woot:
Now I just have a little more saving to do and a hole lot of luck finding everything in the same place at the same time :graucho: wonder if it is realistic though :shucks:

Lagoon colour is discontinued so it's very unlikely you will be able to order it from the boutique. If that is the only colour you want, you will need to look at buying from resellers. Otherwise for general information of how to get a Birkin, go to the reading room:

I realized lagoon colour will be so hard to get, so I'm thinking to order the new color blue paon which is very similar.
I will call my SA tomorrow, hope she can help me.
