This decision was made partly also because I will be coming over to the US soon. I'm from Singapore and it's impossible to score one here. So I figured I should make full use of the 1 yr in the US to hunt for my HG.

The first step of the grand plan is to sell some of my purses to fund my HG. I figured if I manage to sell off what I intended to sell, I will be able to raise half the funds. The motto here is scale down, go for quality over quantity. Ok that's not to say my purses now aren't of good quality, but nothing beats a Hermes purse, so I've been told.

Your epiphany pointed you out to the right direction. If there is one thing to regret in my 2010 purse plunge, it is my impulsive Chanel bags purchase. Lately, I have been trying to get the most out of my Chanel bags which could have afforded me 3 Birkins already. However, it is disheartening to see defect unravels as I use each collection interchangeably.

Now, I have to plan to visit Chanel in NYC to bring 3 almost-brand-new purses with me to get them fixed. What an inconvenience.

Hence, quality over quantity becomes imperative. Good Luck on your pursuit.:smile1:

spitfire_69, heh, I know the slippery slope very well. I had fallen in love with a brand and then buying like 6-7 bags a year. That happened for 3 brands. It's a habit I'd like to break. If it happens again with H, then it would defeat the purpose wouldn't it. I am hoping it wouldn't given that I can't possibly afford that many H bags in a year and that it's not easy to obtain one. But I don't rule out falling in love then saving up for the 2nd. Might have to take a few years tho' :p

miyake0214, I only got aquainted with Chanel this year and have gotten 2 so far. I really want another tho. The 226 reissue black with gh. I think that would be the end my Chanel collection. It's a shame about the quality issues with Chanel, I had just read about them on tpf.

Since I got kelly, it makes me wanna spend less on buying other brands...but still i have not gotten any H bags in my own spendings... This time im thinking of not touching the xmas money i have so that just incase the chance of getting a birkin pops out...I can easily buy it... So for now I try to avoid looking at other brands. So help me god!

I haven't bought a bag since February. It's been a really tough year for me and I'm struggling financially. There are so many things I should be spending my money on right now, but I'm craving a bright colored H treat. I really want a Fuchsia or Rose Shocking Chevre Bolide or Kelly. I know something bright would lift my spirits.

I am in a bit of a personal dilemma...Sometimes I get these impulse ideas and I just want to talk this one through before I make the impulse decision lol....

Everytime I come to the H forum I keep wanting (more and more) a Birkin! My dream birkin would be Gris Touterelle (dove gray) PHW or Etoupe GHW either in 35 TOGO. As well, I would love to one day get a BB 32 Kelly (preferably Vintage.)

My question is if I should start selling off some of my LV stuff to fund my Birkin fund. I am mainly looking to sell my Odeon MM (MODS IM NOT TRYING TO SOLICITATE HERE!) but am not sure if I should do so now or wait... I have not worn it often, and the last time I wore it I felt a little bit silly with it. I don't want to wait too long because becasue the vachetta will get darker and that means I probably will not as good a price for it. At the same time, my birkin fund is at $0 at the moment so I don't want to get rid of a bag for nothing, KWIM? The selling of my Odean MM would pretty much jump-start it. Would you love tpfers recommend I sell the Odeon and use the funds to jump-start my Birkin fund or would you keep it until the birkin fund has more funds in it?! THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!:hugs:

I don't think the re-sale value of LV is anything like that of Hermes, and I would say that's not what it used to be. I was considering offloading an unwanted Melrose (yes the Hermes bug has bitten) and was shocked to see new ones on eBay for less than I paid originally. If I were you, I'd just start saving really hard.

That is my plan! I consulted a friend about selling the Odeon and I think I will. I believe I will have a better chance at selling it if I do it now since there are always only 1-3 on ebay at a time! Thanks for responding:D

I am new here and new to Hermes. I have lusted from a distance for years, but I just now started my H savings account and have hubby on board! :D Some day soon I hope to have my dream Kelly. Until then I hope to pick-up some scarves, etc along the way!

I think you should sell some of your LV. I found that after a certain age, some LV bags felt too young, KWIM? But the iconic Hermes bags are ageless.

I would love to get my first birkin in the near future, can anyone please educate me the process for purchasing a birkin....Do we go to the store and tell them i would like to order a birkin and they will show me the leather book and tell me when will it ready? do I put a deposit or I need to put advance payment.
sorry to my silly questions, I have never buy a hermes birkin before. Thanks!

This certainly isn't apples-to-apples, but I decided that I was going to start selling my unused accessories and jewelry to populate my Hermes fund. It's the only way I can really justify it to my SO.

I've learned through the course of life that I tend to value things I need to plan for more than things I can just wave my hand and have. So I'm okay with that. Plus, it helps me in my overall life goal of simplifying. I'd rather have an Hermes bag of excellent quality than 15 lesser trend bags.

Hiii im new and my addiction has lead me to this fab forum and im happy that i can share my obsession with people who wont be annoyed, my family are sick of hearing me talking about leathers, colors, ebay finds, and how i cant afford it yet :(

My dream bags : etoupe birkin 40cm Phw, Black birkin 40cm Ghw, any color constance 23cm, a dark color for a kelly with phw 35 cm

I hope we all get our dream bags soon ;*

Hi S. I'm actually saving to buy a watch, some gold jewelry items, a tool box bag, and of course a birkin. But my obstacles are Chanel and Christian Louboutins. I'm 22 and still a student so until I start making $$$ I'm going to have to wait for my first Hermes... Unless of course my bf decides to surprise me lol
