Hi girls~

I hang out in the Chanel forum and the other non-purse related ones. But I've been eyeing Hermes for a bit now, and it's quite a mystery to me! I have to learn about all the different styles and leather types out there...

I'm sure an Hermes bag will be a lifelong investment that I won't regret. Now if only I can decide which color I want and size..

Anyways, hello everyone :flowers:

To fight the inclination to spend money here and there that you will ultimately regret (instead of putting towards Hermes), try carrying a small photo of your wished-for Hermes bag. Refer to it for strength when you want to spend money. And good luck everyone in their quest for a Hermes bag.

Great idea! On my first trip to Hermes, my SA recommended I buy a mini agenda in the exact color and leather of my dream bag. I take it out to look and feel the leather every time I am tempted to purchase something unnecessary!

mooks, I never entered a high end boutique in my life.
I'm terrified (in a good way) about visiting H for the first time. :)

I'd love to come with you to hold your hand, so to speak, you'll have such fun!!

Kelly_Birkin, do you live near any high end boutiques? If you do, go for it! They are not scary at all, in fact they are quite nice. When I was younger and was on allowance I used to go into Bergdorf Goodman, a couple of twenties in hand, and go to the makeup counter. (You can always afford lipstick!) I think you should go in and give yourself practice for your eventual H. visit. At Bergdorf they're so nice, they send you handwritten thank you notes after your purchase. It's so nice. Go for it!

Great advice!! I've been going into these kind of stores since I was in my very early twenties and refuse to be intimidated because my money is just as good as anyone elses

So true!! When I was younger I was a bit apprehensive (thus my makeup counter story). But, now I prefer high-end stores (can't take the mess and confusion of other stores), though I make a beeline for the sale rack on most visits :shame:.

Oooo I love a sale rack!!

I can't go into sales anymore. They are far too stressful, with people walking through you for a short cut and mess everywhere. Although I do love TK Maxx, but not the clothes part (too disorganised!)

I have to say, I adore the calm serenity of the H boutiques. I can actually THINK, lol!

Bisousx, what a good idea to think of it as an investment. H bags really are, aren't they? Such treasures. Can't wait until I start saving up for my first Birkin. I think that will be the next bag after the Lindy.

^^ But a Birkin can be part of somebody's down payment, KWIM? I bet there are people who have put Birkin (or any extravagant purchase) over down payment before! I would never ... but I don't even buy on credit (unless I can pay it back within 30 days and just want the points).

mooks, when I'm a better financial situation and have
enough money saved where I can feel confident in
using my charge card - then I will plan my trip.

Sarah, *LOL* I think we all would do the same. :)

Well, some of the exotics can equal the price of a car.
Or like P-B said, or for some the down payment of a house.
