^ I agree. I've been telling myself, "you don't need that new bag....just think how much you can save towards a Birkin."

In the meantime, I made a small H purchase today...I ordered a Kelly Double Tour bracelet in Rouge VIF with palladium hardware. I'm hoping to buy a few small things over time and build a relationship with an associate so that when the time comes for me to take the plunge, things will hopefully be a little easier.

thanks kenzi1980, LuvaPug, and SuLi. You gals are right. I don't do second hand (except for H.) so if I got those three flaps, that's like almost ten grand right there! So I will say no to the flaps as well :crybaby:(Well, I will ask DH to buy me one as my bday present -- it's not like he's going to give me the 3 grand in cash instead, lol) This is hard!! But thanks for the support!

SuLi - be sure to show us your new H. present when you receive it! Congrats!

SULI: Ahhh how gorgeous!! I want to see pics please!! I want a double tour!! Congratulations!!
Yes I totally agree, building a rapport is a must!! However its hard when the nearest H store is 3 hours away!

PB: See you knew the answer already!! Presents are fine!! Lol, it will be hard but then just think of being able to go into H and get your birkin/ kelly... it just has to be the BEST feeling ever!!

ltucci, I can't say I'm not tempted sometimes, but
then I look at my bills and say, "not now." :)

LP, I think it's a nice progression to buy a few
scarves, ready to wear, and then move up to the bags.
I just don't like that it's expected for everyone to do so.
Maybe, someone just wants to buy a Birkin, not because
it's THE!BIRKIN!!, but that's all they want, SA's should
realize that as well. :)
It's funny that you mention how you don't
have 'feelings' for other bags. After being on this
forum, I don't either - which is a good thing that
I don't own anything designer. The best bags
I have are some nice Dooney and Bourkes (not
the ones made in China) - but they're nothing
compared to Hermes.

P-B, would you rather save for H?
Chanel is expensive (although, not as expensive...),
would you regret your purchase?

^^ Yeah, I do! I would much rather save. So, I'll just let DH buy me one flap or two (lol) for my bday and/or anniversary or something. (Unless I can convinve him to put 3K into some H. fund, but I doubt he'd seriously do that!!) But you gals are right, it's better to save for H :wlae:so that's what I'm going to do! I don't think I'll regret it if it's a gift. But, I will regret it if I buy that instead of saving for the H. Luva Pug was right -- I already knew the answer.

KB: That is so true the way it is expected for you to work your way up! =( I mean in France there are Birkins just in the windows, so surely you dont have to order a birkin all the time do you? I mean, if you walked in and asked for a black togo 35cm with phw and they had one, do you think they wouldn't tell you because you are not known? I really don't know how H works!!

Take my LV store for example, after speaking with the manager i know people just walked in and asked for LE bags, if they had them they would show the people the bag no matter if they were new customers, is H not like that?
It would be interesting to ring a store and just ask about the birkin, how to get one, wl questions etc, just to get a feel for process?

At least you found H first, it annoys me that I and my Dad, dbf etc have spent £1000's on my bags and now im thinking, ahhh i could have had a birkin!!!

PB: I do think its weird how when its a present (a chanel bag) our DH, Dbf have no problem coughing up for expensive bags, but just asking them for money and its no way!! Lol!
I think a flap for a gift is perfect, you can never go wrong with a flap imo! Especially if he won't put it into a H fund!Lol!!

I really hope i can keep the strength to not buy other silly things! I think i need to seriously think about the specs and get a picture for myself, that way i think it owuld make it easier to save!

xx

That's really not the case, at least not for me.

Don't be intimidated or led to believe you have to spend thousands to somehow befriend an SA who will then "let" you order a bag as it's not like that. Just go in and ask the question

^ Really Mooks??
I was always under the impression you shouldn't ever ask? Like somehow that would give you a cross next to your name lol! I am pleased that you said it isn't like that!

So did you just ask and you walked out with a birkin?

To fight the inclination to spend money here and there that you will ultimately regret (instead of putting towards Hermes), try carrying a small photo of your wished-for Hermes bag. Refer to it for strength when you want to spend money. And good luck everyone in their quest for a Hermes bag.

Thanks, Sus, that was really sweet and a good suggestion. I think DH would check me into a mental facility  if he caught me doing that ... He is already not so amused with my new found love for all things H!

Luva Pug, I agree. I wish I can say "honey, can you just deposit the money you are going to spend on this flap and put it in my H fund. Please .... " yeah, right!
