Hermes spa pricing

Today I took in 3 handbags for refresh and was quoted 6 months. My SA said a basic refresh with no repairs was $475. I had her change the wording to get the artisan’s opinion on what should be done and email me with a price before proceeding.

She thought 2 Ks were perfect and wouldn’t send them but one is 5+ yrs old and the handle is loose so I’d like to see if they can tighten it. The other K is Box from the 90s and not yet refreshed, so I think she’s due. And the last bag is Box from the late 70s/early 80s. I had her refreshed about 6 years ago but she looks parched and ready for another refresh. I’ll post again once they write me with the actual pricing.
Can you answer for those of us who may be new--what's a "basic refresh"? How exactly does Hermes define/itemize that service?

I can answer the second part of your question with respect to a kelly wallet.

I brought in two items. A three week old, boutique fresh kelly quadrille 28 bag with some white showing where the handle attached (if it were in older bag, I might have been tempted to just use a q tip and shoe polish. but since it was new, my SA was like, NOOOO. no. Lol. :) He took me to repair. The spa department told me that this would be fixed for free. I don’t recall much itemization, and I signed for approval on the spot, in person. I think I did get confirmation via email.

I also sent in a kelly wallet with a tiret replacement issue, but said I was amenable to whatever other service the experts thought the item needed. For the wallet, Hermes was extremely specific about its itemized quote. The repair center requires you to reply and confirm via email that you agree before engaging in any repair work.

CLEANING - WALLET
110 USD
· REPLACEMENT CLASP - KELLY WALLET
255 USD
· REPLACEMENT SIDE STRAPS PLATES - KELLY WALLET
135 USD
· REPLACEMENT FLAP WINDOW - KELLY WALLET
75 USD
Total
575 USD

Estimated lead time: 12 weeks

We kindly ask you to confirm your agreement by replying to this e-mail and stay at your disposal for any question.

ETA: to be honest, I didn’t think the box leather kelly wallet needed much more than a tiret replacement and maybe a buffing, but I trust the expert opinion. also, when you drop your item off, you will specify who is authorized to pick up

Interesting update. No one from Hermès ever contacted me to relay the repair artisan's proposed work, corresponding pricing or to obtain my approval before proceeding. I received an email from the boutique where I had dropped them off along with invoices for the both 32 Kelly bags:

The 1st is an Epsom leather 32 K:

The 2nd one is a Box leather 32 K:

So pricing for touch-up work was 325 USD per bag.

The third one was a Box Trim I bag from the 80s that required more expertise and was sent to Paris. No word on that one yet.

Has anyone else not received a call with proposed work and pricing prior to proceeding to perform their spa services?

There is a new person handling this area at my boutique. I spoke to her on the phone today and told her they had mistakenly noted the Box leather bag as Monsieur leather on the receipt. I asked her to have the leather description corrected to Box. She said the artisan doing the repairs knows all the leather types so if they wrote Monsieur that must be correct. She admitted she didn't know because she's only been working at Hermès for a few months. I assured her it was Box because Monsieur was introduced in 2017 and this K was produced about 20 years earlier.

Later today I received an updated invoice with the leather type correctly reflected

"Basic refresh" was my phraseology, not official Hermès lingo. Basically, I didn't see anything really wrong, but I wanted them nourished with whatever products they use.

And yes, I did tell them that only I would be picking them up. Curiously, no one ever contacted me to tell me what was suggested, to provide pricing or to receive my approval to proceed. This is the first time that's happened when I've sent something to spa. I suspect it was due to this person being new on the job. And the pricing was reasonable, so I would have approved. I'm certain I'll hear from the Paris atelier before they proceed. I have always heard from Paris when my local boutique sends pieces there.

I dropped off my vintage trim at my home store about 3-4 weeks ago. My SA told me I would receive an email with a list of recommended repairs and would need to approve the repairs before they work on it. I haven't received any word on my bag at all since then. They did say that my bag would likely be sent to the Beverly Hills location, and ultimately to Paris if extensive work or expert work was needed to be done.

They sent my 2 Kelly bags from a recent dropoff to the BH boutique as well. NY must be quite busy; I'm on the East Coast.

Good luck with the spa service for your vintage Trim!

Hi all,
I dropped off my bag at Hermes in Beverly Hills on Jan. 11th to go to Paris for repairs. I was told it would take about 2 months to receive a quote. I followed up at my 2 month mark, and then I was told it would take about 10 weeks. My bag reached Paris on March 10th, and my 10 week mark is today and I still haven’t received a quote. Is this normal behavior. This whole quote process is becoming very annoying. I appreciate your thoughts.

Thanks!

Oh wow thanks for posting! Unfortunately I don't have any thoughts on your situation, I find myself in a similar position as well.

I dropped off my bag at my home store in early February and was told it would be sent to BH for a quote. I haven't heard back from H/ my SA at all, and figured it might be that my bag was sent to Paris after all (the bag is vintage and at least 20 years old, my SA didn't even recognize what it was).

If you haven't received a quote yet, it's also unlikely my bag was even evaluated yet.

The thing I find interesting about all this is that I know an influencer who dropped of her bag at Hermes in NY to go to Paris Jan 4th and she received a quote within 1 1/2 months, yet people like us are still waiting. I honestly feel like my wait time is starting to get ridiculous. I was hoping I’d have it back before my trip to Europe at the end of the year.

I dropped off my K32 Courchevel for cleaning and repairs on Jan 20 (2023). I don't know if it was sent to Beverly Hills or Paris.
I received an estimate yesterday (March 21st) so that is 8 weeks to receive my estimate.

On the estimate, it notes that the estimated lead-time is 20 weeks, so that means I could pick it up in August, theoretically. August is a holiday month in France, so I am sceptical. February is also a holiday month in France, so this could be the reason for a long wait on estimates @dai224 .

Yes, the wait times are quite long, but I suspect that H is receiving many items for cleaning and repair. During the past few years, H has become extremely popular with lots of people purchasing from the second-hand market. I suspect that this trend has led to a significant increase in cleaning/repair volume.

I did recently send a sac balle de golf to an independent repair shop in California, in part because I didn't want to wait 8 months for the service.

Here is my K32 estimate in USD:

Ok, this is interesting. I just got an email from H, stating that my bag was ready for pick up!

However, I never received an estimate via email as informed by my SA (checked my spam mail too, nothing). I do remember my SA doing an informal quote and she estimated around ~400 usd for repairs and cleaning.

I checked the slip I received when I dropped off the bag; there's was no estimate in terms of cost, only an "expected pick up date", which was scheduled as 4/28/23.

Has anyone else gotten their bag spa'd but not contacted for pricing? Since I'm getting this bag much quicker than I anticipated, I guess it was only sent to BH.

Thank you for your insight! It just bothers me that I sent my bag in around the same time as someone else, and I still have yet to be quoted. I’ll give it a bit more time though

Yes, it is annoying. it takes an outrageously long time to receive a quote, even if the person who took the bag gives you an informal, off the record indication (that is in no way guaranteed). I prefer to drop my bags off, and then forget about them. I first took bags to H Spa in 2009 maybe? And, it was annoying then too, but you could talk to the H craftsperson or his assistant. However, once a bag returned to me after about ten or twelve months in Paris and it looked exactly the same. Clearly Spa was not done (and I wasn’t charged anything either).

For years now, I have used professional third party (docride) for some things and H for others. I used H spa when my there week old kelly quadrille developed what looked like white cotton batting or stuffing peeking out of the join side of the handle. If it had been an older bag, I moght have taken a a tip with a tiny bit of shoe polish or a balck sharpie, but Sicne it was new, my SA insisted it go to SpA. It took many weeks. . .but I was told in advance for that one second of work, no charge lol. (I wrote about this in a post above).

I also sent in my box kelly longue wallet which needs a tiret replacement, and I got a long laundry list of proposed things to be done. . . almost 5 months later. What was funny was the intake person had suggested that I keep the bag until they got the replacement tiret in, and that I should bring the wallet back in then, out, but . I was like, just take it lol. The quote to be approved gave an estimated lead time of 12 weeks, but I’m not holding my breath.

For any service that H has charged, I have always gotten an itemized proposal. Years ago, it used to be handwritten By Claude or Andre? Now it’s emailed
