Taking my etain K35 into the BH store next week for a visit with the in-house artisans to look and hopefully repair two very minor scuffs at the bottom of my bag. Even though I treat her like a princess, she has managed to get a few small scuffs which hopefully can be repaired in-house there.

Does anyone know the timeframe and cost of repairing very minor scuffs? Just curious. I am meeting with the head of the department and would love to have as much information as possible.

They may tell you 8 weeks, but in my recent experience it was less than half that. They may quote a standard $340, but again, in my recent experience it may end up costing less. I think the effect of this all is it helps you feel more grateful!! Good luck VigeeLeBrun!

Thanks so much, this is helpful. It sounds like the timing will be shorter than a full spa ~ my K35 is in pristine condition except for these minor scuffs ~ but the cost may end up being the same, Laila.

IMG_3793.jpg IMG_3792.jpg I'm eyeing a vintage box Kelly that has a fair amount of work to be done and so am on the fence about the purchase.

Before I take it to the Madison Av store for an assessment, wanted to see here if anyone here has experience with restoring a bag so damaged? Will the Sps be able to save the bag??

Photos attached. See the stress areas on the bag for damage: bottom corners, side panel creases.

Thanks ladies!!

I recently had an overhaul done on a 40 clemence B, e stamp, well loved and carried, they said seven to eight weeks and she was done in 4 and they did a marvelous job they quoted me approximately 500 and it ended up being 750 but they messaged me first with the estimate before they proceeded. It did include the replacement of the front plate and toggle, corners needed quite a bit of touch up and hair color loss and some of the piping, remember they don't clean interiors and the handles didn't look that much better after but I still cover them with a twilly anyway all in all very happy with the work and close to what I expected to spend

Are the corners painted over? If so, H may not accept the bag. Also, looks like there could be missing stitches at the top? Stitching would cost more.

Spa can do a lot to restore a well used bag but you will still see the leather hairline cracks even after spa. I had a very used bag restored and it looks very good afterwards. In the end, I sold it because despite how good it looks, I couldn't get over seeing the cracks in the leather. Be prepared to spend a lot more in restoration though

Thanks so much! I wasn't sure about the corners - it did look painted over and so I was hoping Hermes would be able to tell me.

Agree about the cracked leather too, and so wanted to see PFers had opinions on how well that could be restored.

I'll report back with info after my visit to the H store!

The cracks will not be improved but simply blended in with matching color. Also think there could be dry rot in the leather but not an expert. If you already bought it and Hermès wouldn't restore, docride might be able to advise in the restoration DIY thread.

image.jpeg Just found this thread and thought my recent quote may be helpful to anyone looking for current prices. The bag is a vintage Kelly and needs a fair amount of work! I was happy to go ahead as she was so inexpensive to purchase in the first place. Prices are in GBP and include VAT and the time frame given was 12 to 24 weeks (she has been sent to Paris).

Hi
Thanks for this useful info
Could I ask is this from a London store? and do you know if UK stores have local craftsmen or UK Hermes will send the bags to Paris? I am considering a spa treatment for my Birkin

See the scuffed corners (bought preloved)

Hi!
This quote was provided via selfridges in London. I believe the Bond Street store has a lady that can carry out some repairs there though :)
