Hi! I need to order a lock for my black poro ghw croc Birkin. Should I call my local store which is Beverly Hills or Paris? Also, would any one have a ballpark idea how much it would cost? [emoji4]

I don't really use my locks so I'm not in a rush and if it's crazy expensive I might not order one at all :) TIA!

I don't know the price, but for sure better to to go to your usual store. Paris makes order only if you go directly with the bag and you have to come back personally to pick it up. Ir will be a bit expensive unless you plane a trip there. I ordered in Paris a strap for my kelly and they didn't accept that my friend would have pick it up for me.

By the way we were discussing the fact that they don't clean handles....but they will replace them. She said it's expensive, like $1500, but if it needs to be done, they will.

I wonder how much the craftspersons get paid? I would love this job. I did write to Hermes a few years ago, after seeing 'leather forever' in London. I didn't get a reply. Pity, as a trained Cordwainers leather worker, and seeing the waiting times, I would think they would use a few more craftspeople.
I think you should put a Twilly on the handle the day you buy your Hermes. My choice would be an overhandle sleeve.

Alright ya'll. Going to take my shot at the BH store with my Dogon! Here are before pics. Will post estimated quote, and after pics (be patient- it may be months!) Pray for her!

It's OT but there are occasionally craftsperson openings posted on H.com.
I dislike twillies on handles except on casual summer days, so eventually my Birkin handles will be replaced. I'm fine with that vis a vis the look of twillies - great for others but not my style.

Update: 7/11 BH craftsman is on vacation and may need it to be sent to Paris for new strap. Paris' craftsman are on vacation in August. She said worst case scenario will be done in 4-6months

My toile/box Trim I 31cm is also quoted at $340, 8-10 weeks. I asked if that time was to send it out and was told no, that's just the wait they quote due to the number of bags in line to be serviced here. Apparently there are 2 craftspeople locally. I'm ok to wait since it'll be back well before the next summer season. Heck, if it was my only handbag then it might be a problem, but ... ya know!

About how much does Hermes charge for a spa treatment, and how long until I get my beloved bag back? I just purchased an "eggplant aubergine chamonix 35cm Kelly from Portero. I spoke to them directly after looking at the pics and it does have some minor scuffs on front and back from daily use. No deep scratches. If it was a car it would be buffed and then be perfect. I would like to send it for a spa treatment but am afraid what the cost might be. Any ballpark guesses? So excited- I have been searching for this bacg for 3 years now! :yahoo:

It depends, Hermes tells you a maximum time frame that it could take and during the summer I wanted to take my Birkin in to get cleaned they said it could take up to 4 months. You will not know the price until it reaches france and the craftsman will report back with a quote and could be around $500 if its pretty dirty

Box/toile Trim picked up from spa (local H craftsperson) in ~1 month & $270. Amazed at how refreshed it returned.
